That's why Ad blockers are unfortunately so necessary - this site has had several cases of infections coming from their served adverts, once was enough for me and sadly for DS, I block all ads on this site - why wouldn't you after getting an infection?
Adblock Plus stops all this extra risk. |

This is one of the threats that Windows Defender keeps finding.
https://www.microsoft.com/security/p...8&enterprise=0 Apparently it is another page that informs you, you have an infection and should call Microsoft. Hopefully it is the one with the login that stops you using FF till you end the task. |

Fixing Malware Issues depends on which Malware is present and can be lengthy, even for experienced savvy users.
It may be best, and often quickest, to have a known problem-free state to return to. Creating frequent System Restore Points and making regular System Image Backups can do this. Even, if precautions have not been taken, always ask for advice on the forums before parting with any money for anything to anybody. |

Another vote for snipping tool. Microsoft, talktalk et al don't do this type of thing.
Isn't it amazing how when you do want to get a popup you can't get one. ![]() I'm still trying to get a cap of the login one. |

I managed to get a capture of the popup login that stops me from exiting Firefox without ending task.
http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps0esc8ok4.jpg I've blocked the secure-data site so hopefully won't happen again. Anyone else seen it? |

One or more of the adverts on here are infected because when I was clicking the adverts about a week ago, Avira popped up with a notice telling me that something had been found. Since not clicking on them anymore, I haven't seen that pop-up from Avira. I have a feeling that it would have come from an advert that I've never heard of.

Think I need help here!
About a month ago, while using DS, I inadvertently clicked on a link - and all hell was let loose on my computer as the page opened. Sounded like a mixture of bells/sirens....and across the screen came a message which told me my computer was at risk, hacked etc. I tried to close it, tried turning off the computer and re-booting - nothing worked. Still this infernal noise. On the message, there was a phone number, saying it was from a ''Microsoft partner'' and I should phone for assistance. Being an almost total idiot where computer tech is concerned, I did just that, phoned the number and was told I was talking to someone from Supremo Innovations, who would sort the problem for me?? I said there were too many scams around, why should I believe him. He told me to type in Supremo Innovations, gave me their phone number etc, and said they were Microsoft partners and would help me to fix the problem - as I had been ''hacked''. As the page I opened on Google did indeed confirm all he had said, I went ahead and let him sort the mess out. I was using Edge at time this security breech happened. Briefly, took him about 30 minutes, cost me £50.00 and I had my computer back. Once I took back control of the computer, I noticed there were a couple of new programmes installed, on my desk top. One allows Supremo to share my computer, the other is a Diagnostic tool. I have checked my bank balance regularly !! since this happened, all seems fine. Computer working well. My query - is this legit, how do I find out if they really are ''Partners'' with Microsoft, and should I leave the stuff he installed, or get rid asap? Can someone give me advice? Thanks |

Supremo is a scam so remove whatever they put on your computer, run scans with your antivirus and Malwarebytes ..... I suppose the only way you can be sure to be rid of them is to reinstall Windows.
Get an Adblocker, Ublock Origin is good so you won't see most of these scams in the first place. Shame on DS for once again not checking who they let advertise with them. |

£50 buys you another USB External Hard Drive (if you don't already have one)
With this, you can make an exact Carbon Copy of your whole (Malware free) system. Including Windows and personal files and folders. Even if your Main Hard Drive went 'Poof', regardless of Malware, all is recoverable. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ho...utf-8&oe=utf-8 |

I use the paid for malwarebytes. I think £20 is fine for avoiding a lot of these issues especially with third party infected ads that appear in what you would consider to be a safe site

Many thanks to Lion8tiger and Heiker, for your advice.
Spent ages finding out what ''Malwarebytes'' is/are!!! I guess some folk, like me, should have to get a license before being allowed to operate a computer. With regards the Supremo stuff that needs deleting, what is the safe way to get rid? Thanks for your patience. |

Supremo itself isn't a scam. It's genuine remote desktop software used by those wanting to connect to a remote computer. Unfortunately scammers have been using it to gain access to naive user's machines. But wouldn't the unsuspecting user have to give the scammer their computer login details for them to gain access in the first place.

I stand corrected, indeed there was a thread on here a few months ago about a remote control company that was getting bad publicity for the same reason, can't remember the name.
https://www.teamviewer.com/en/ They are certainly one of the better known remote control providers. |

This is the one that that the firm, purporting to be Supremo, installed on my laptop. They also installed ''Supremo PC Cleaner''.
What are the chances they could be legit?? ![]() The fact is, that with the possible exception of the security services or various other law enforcement agencies, no-one really gives a toss about what you do with your PC nor really cares enough to warn you if you are being hacked. Only security software you have installed personally will give you any form of warning. Any pop up message you receive that is not from your security software is more than likely a total and utter scam. They are not in the slightest bit interested in helping you with any problems with your PC. In fact there very likely is no problem for them to "fix". All they want is to con you out of your hard earned for doing absolutely sod all. I would make sure that any software they conned you into installing is removed ASAP. Also make sure you do full system scans with a good anti virus program and Malwarebytes to ensure any nasties are removed. Next time (hopefully there won't be a next time) you will know to treat any similar message with the contempt it deserves. Never click on any link in any message and never call any phone number in any such message. And if you ever get a call from someone saying they are Microsoft regarding a problem with your computer tell them to shove their heads where the sun don't shine and put the phone down. That is another common scam.

Teamviewer and Supremo are themselves legitimate systems. However whoever it was you called about this error message is about as legitimate as a nine bob note! Especially as I seriously doubt anyone genuinely from Supremo would have you install Teamviewer, a competitor product to their own remote support system.

I do have a good security software programme installed, not sure if I am allowed to give the name, but as I have previously mentioned, I have no idea what this ''Malwarebytes'' is - or where I get it from? Could you point me in the right direction............ |

I had another one of the 'secure-data' login popups again.
They had used a slightly different address so my filter didn't stop it. Hopefully my *. will catch any more modifications of the address. Cold calls, spam emails, and popups are just so annoying. The people who do them should be first on the B Ark. |
