Pete Burns to me EVERYTHING that was once fantastic about Celebrity Big Brother. He was the perfect housemate - an absolute shIt stirrer, running circles around the HMs with ease, and calling on everyone's weak points with knife cutting precision making them squirm - he was just rivetting tv. Who can forget his friendships with George Galloway and Denis Rodman his love/hate relationship with Barrymore, his annilation of Jodie Marsh.....in terms of celebirty reality tv, it will never get better then CBB4, and that was thanks to Pete Burns.

So gutted to hear of Pete's passing he was a fascinating character - and loved You Spin me too, huge condolances to his friends and family, he was a true eccentric and a big personality no doubt they will miss him hugely. RIP

You have said pretty much everything I wanted to say. He was the best CBB contestant ever in the best CBB series ever. His unexpected friendships with George Galloway and Denis Rodman and (up to a point) Michael Barrymore were CBB gold, never to be equalled. Those were the days, when CBB offered intelligent, interesting, and/or witty conversation on a regular basis. RIP Pete Burns, RIP Celebrity Big Brother.

"Sad to hear of the demise of Pete Burns. He was a cross between Oscar Wilde and Dorothy Parker. You don't get more brilliant than that. RIP" - George Galloway

Don't blame him being vile to some in the House, but he was lovely on Wife Swap, and sad he's gone. R.I.P Pete, as I thought you were great, and will always remember you.

Terribly terribly sad news, Pete was a one of, a really bright witty guy. Another icon taken far too soon.
RIP Pete.

I think these comments sum up why we've had some of the winners we've had in recent years.

Don't they just? I'd happily punch George Galloway if I had him in front of me for mentioning Burns and the wonderful Oscar Wilde in the same sentence.

Pete picked on women, he bullied the weak, he licked up to the men and was bitchy and mean and vicious, not witty or funny.

I really think some of those eulogising him on here should go back and watch it again. He was horrendous and if he had been a woman he would undoubtedly be the most hated CBB housemate of all time.

Sad to see anyone die so young and he obviously battled his own demons, but he was a nasty piece of work and a bully.

Sad day indeed we lost a true Big Brother Legend and rockstar. I have seen CBB4 and Pete was frequently on BBLB and BOTS and on this year singing one of his hits.

I always thought he should have been included in UBB and he even said he would have done it if asked in an interview with Emma on BBLB in 2010. So sad RIP Pete.

A talentless bully who only picked on girls (Traci Bingham and Jodie Marsh) who didn't answer back. And always a tosser on BOTS, feet on the desk and didn't even bother to watch the show.

He's famous for having one hit record, being caustic and having loads of plastic surgery, It's a sad fact that some people think that qualifies him for legendary status.

Also, I was never a big Arron fan but I recall a comment he made to him on BOTS when Arron came out as the winner. Something like 'were you ignored by your parents as a child or were you bullied at school'.

Totally unnecessary and out of order. What people liked about him I'm not sure.

We live in a time where 'saying it like it is' i.e being a total ****, is seen as something to applaud.

Couldn't care less about the man, dead or alive.

Are you counting Preston as a girl? Pete ribbed him and told him off non stop.

Your points about him only being famous for having a hit, plastic surgery, and being caustic could apply to Jodie and Tracey too. Only FAR less so!

Sad news. He was no angel but I liked him.

I found Jodie a PITA in the house so I can't blame any of them for trying to tell her a few home truths. She lived in a world where she could say what she wanted about other people and was "just keeping it real" but if anyone did the same about her they were bullies, and she seemed to have no undertanding that her own behaviour had repercussions. For all his faults I don't think I ever heard Pete moan about how he was portrayed in the press. Whatever way he behaved, he "owned it". With Jodie they were trying to tell her "Either own it or...If you don't want to be portrayed a certain way then don't act that way" and "You can't really complain about people bullying you with negative comments if you do the same about others." I'd have got frustrated with her "poor me" act too .

I could also see what he was trying to do with Traci, to get some kind of real honest reaction from her instead of the sugar coated, smiley Lala land persona, but it wasn't pleasant to watch.

Yeah, act like a complete tool for no reason but as long as you 'own it' it's fine.

What a load of rubbish. The guy was a nasty, miserable old bag no matter what way you try to paint it. Jodie Marsh was in no way in the same league as him with negativity and he wasn't trying to do anything other than make people feel bad.

Who said it was fine? My point was that if you act in a certain way you will be portayed in a certain way. If you dont like being portrayed that way then stop bloody acting like it lol. It's simple stuff but it seemed to be a concept Jodie couldn't grasp, and personally I could only hear somebody moaning about the same thing so many times before I pointed out the blindingly obvious too.

You are saying it's ok because he owned it. I don't know what other way you could have meant that post, it's pretty obvious.

let's face it, Jodie was a bally eyed nightmare, you'd have to have the patience of a saint to listen to her drivel without saying anything, and Pete certainly wasn't known for his patience

No I was saying I could see why he got annoyed by Jodie, because she couldn't grasp that the reason she was being portrayed a certain way was because she acted that way. It would be like Pete being bitchy and then moaning over and over that he was being portrayed as bitchy. She also couldn't grasp that somebody making negative comments about her was just the same as when she made negative comments about others. In Jodies world if she made comments about other people it was fine but if anyone did it about her it was bullying.
