Over the air updates are only available if the manufacturer makes them available and then only for a limited time. It's not an on demand service by any means. Though these days firmware updates tend to be too large for the very limited bandwidth available on Freeview anyway.
According to the manual you can use the USB port for updates but there doesn't appear to be any available http://www.hitachidigitalmedia.com/en-gb/software Either enter HDR10T01 in the search box or select Digital Receiver in the middle box then HDR10T01 in the right hand box |

From reading the manual (available here https://estadoc.hitachi.eu/docpublic...lNum=HDR10T01#) it looks like it can only update the firmware either over the air or via USB. Can't find any mention that it is able to do so via an internet connection

Page 20 of the manual mentions the Update options menu. If there was any way to update over the internet that is where I would expect to find it. So looks like the only option is to leave it on standby over night on the off chance there is an over the air update or keep checking the Software link I provided above to see if there is a download from their website.

If nothing works, you can always JTAG it.

so it does give you the option to update over the internet but it didn't work, It says no response from update servers. please check your internet connection.
Ive just been using the Iplayer so i know it's connected. |

Ive just been using the Iplayer so i know it's connected. Anyway. I wonder if that message means exactly what it says or simply that it couldn't find any update file to download? In other words it's just a generic message that doesn't necessarily mean it can't connect. The link to the software download I gave above still showing no update. So it could simply be that there is no update to download. |

Ive just been using the Iplayer so i know it's connected. The T7655 models when connected OK would normally say "Software upgrade over internet" "Searching for new software..." "Search progress: and then a progress bar which doesn't move until it gives up and ask if you want to try to search for an update via the aerial instead. On mine if I don't have an internet connection it immediately displays the no response from update servers message. Did that come up immediately for you? Quote:

If connected to the internet, the no response from update servers message generally means that it could not find a newer version, because you either have a newer or equal version installed. Yes, it is misleading
.v1.21.3 is the version available over the internet - the servers have not yet been updated to provide the latest v1.22.1 which was only broadcast as an OAD in August. |
