i wouldnt say he is a socialist, his politics is all over the place depending on the issue .. he certainly isnt far right (alt-right) if thats what you mean. he can play it from both directions.
One of the reasons I like Nick is that he can be unpredictable politically. Like you say, his politics are generally all over the place. Most of the presenters at LBC you can guess what their opinion on something will be before they give it but Nick has been the exception to the rule.

It's shame he has got stuck in a Brexit/Trump rut. The Trump thing is quite amusing because Nick treated him as a joke up until he got elected and now he's livid

Does Nick read DS?

Having listened to the first hour of last night (Saturday), he covered the NHS, specifically a looming winter funding crisis and a lack of outpatient/social care causing bed blocking.

He was well informed and his rants were the usual interesting/amusing standard, but crucially it was (largely) Teump & Brexit free - a refreshing change. He also seemed to be treating his callers with more respect and warmth.

Just as I was beginning to lose interest, he's pulled me back in. Truly one of the best.

Actually I wondered the same. Though was it last night or the night before when a caller asked him to 'change the record'? Priceless. Nick's response was to ask him what he suggested he talk about and then accuse him of being a Brexiter...

Haha, one of my favourite films, it must have been subliminal.

thats the best bit of nicks show. sadly i think the call the other night that irked him the most was the one telling him to change the record. i was enjoying his brexit-trump meltdown but he looks as if hes got it back together.

Enjoying my recording of last nights show, always makes me smile when he describes all the performers at Leicester sq I would cut through that route when I was working near Regent st and reorganise all the performers he mentions

I listenened to him again for the first time for about a month the other night, and virtually the whole 2 hours I heard he was just going on and on about Trump still.... It's sooooo long in the tooth now.

He's just warming up on Trump, after all, he's still 6 weeks away from taking the oath of office to become President and then there's 4 years worth of stuff....unless he does what Michael Moore thinks is a possibility;

Which would give him a heck of a lot more material to work with if it happened.

I've not caught Nicks show in a while. Does anyone know if he's done anything to mark the passing of AA Gill? I know Nick was a big fan.

I've been listening to Nick this evening and, as usual, the show seems so slow-paced and dull.

The first half of the programme was spent discussing 'excess packaging' on food products in supermarkets, which I'm sure is another of those topics that Nick has covered multiple times before now. It just didn't make for an interesting debate at all.

Since then he's been going on and on about Southern Rail and driverless trains etc. Slightly more interesting than the packaging chat, but still nobody has said anything particularly thought provoking and combined with Nick's silly sound-effects it just makes the whole show so utterly missable IMO.

I wonder if he's trying to get sacked? Such a waste of talent.

And as if this show tonight wasn't BORING enough already, he just said he "wants to talk about Donald Trump."

To quote one of Nick's daft sound-effects: "ohh-nooo"

I put my Ipod on to drown him out as my partner was listening and in between the tracks I heard robots taking over, worst year of his life and Trump. Yet again.
Was completely unaware that A A Gill had died.

Presume you're saying you were unaware? Nick tweeted about the news last Saturday.

I have phases of liking NA and then losing interest. After having had quite a long break from listening to him, I was quite shocked when I tuned in. He keeps fumbling over his words and very straight forward ones at that. And when did he become so grouchy?

He was ill during his last couple of shows and mentioned he was taking medication.

But more to the point: whatever happened to poor Doris in Ongar?

It starts this Friday.

He won't have any shortage of issues to fill the A-Z this year.

A will undoubtedly kick off with Muhammad Ali & it will be rich pickings after that.

BIB ... She hasn't been on for a long time ... I used to love her calls and she always put Nick in a good mood ... hope she's ok.

She often calls Duncan Barkes on BBC London, she sounds much the same as ever.

As for NA (who I use to enjoy) the Brexit and Trump results have pushed him over the edge the man comes across as a rambling individual with mental heath issues.
