I've been listening to Nick this evening and, as usual, the show seems so slow-paced and dull.
The first half of the programme was spent discussing 'excess packaging' on food products in supermarkets, which I'm sure is another of those topics that Nick has covered multiple times before now. It just didn't make for an interesting debate at all. Since then he's been going on and on about Southern Rail and driverless trains etc. Slightly more interesting than the packaging chat, but still nobody has said anything particularly thought provoking and combined with Nick's silly sound-effects it just makes the whole show so utterly missable IMO. ![]() well past his sell by date not funny. horrid whiney voice. awful sound affects. a real marmite presenter love or hate...personally cant stand |

NA is a breath of fresh air on such a stuffy station. If only once he could do a week of breakfast shows. Is it wrong to wish a bout of laryngitis on NF.....

Nick Abbot used to be a breath of fresh air. These days he is as stale as the air in a pub toilet.

He is one of the few on LBC to oppose this Brexit nonsense, probably because he has a better education than all the rest of the Daily Mail clowns on that station put together.
Long may he continue. |

I did start to get a bit fed up of the Brexit/Trump shows every week (I subscribe to the podcasts for Nick alone and it was getting a bit samey). Last weekend's episodes were good though and Nick sounded happier.
I'm sure there will be plenty to talk about next year though! |

Long may he continue. I'd rather "educated" people like that get off their high horse and become more grounded in reality. Educated doesn't equate to intelligence, you know, and it's wrong to say he opposes "this Brexit nonsense because he has a better education than all the rest" because that's an extremely simplistic way of looking at it. Ian Collins nor Darren Adam went to university, but both have opposing views. As he's presented music shows on commercial stations before I don't think it shows that his degree did him much good in the intelligence stakes. If he returned to what he's good at (i.e. not talking about politics) he might be worth listening to again. As he is now, he appears to sound redundant and should look for an opportunity on another station. |

The listener figures differ from a half dozen of you who dislike his radio skills now. Like to see some of you crack on with nicks years of radio experience. Long may he continue on LBC...

As I've said on this thread I loved Nick, i'm a big fan. I enjoyed Nick on LBC up until when we decided on brexit and since then he just hasn't seemed the same. It's s shame as when Nick is on form he's by far one of the greatest broadcasters this country has.

It strikes me that virtually everything about the show is stuck in a year 1999 time warp.
The South Park sound effects are a good example of this, but especially Nick's persistence in calling the internet the 'world wide wait'. Why does he do this STILL? It wasn't that clever or witty even in 1999 when all of us were struggling with dial-up, but since the early 2000s most people switched to Broadband and now many of us are on Super-fast Fibre packages and so the internet is anything but slow. It's stupid. |

Earlier he read out a text from someone complaining about him endlessly going on about Trump and she was called a moron. What a wonderful man!

At least from tonight he's doing the A-Z of 2016 so he won't have much time to rant about Brexit and Trump

And they are the reasons why I like him! I love all the silly sound effects and phrases he uses. I do think he could change his topics as Brexit & Trump are tedious now but I suspect he keeps going back to them because he gets the calls in. There is obviously still an interest as he is never short of participants. |
