What letter is Nick up to now? I need to know when it is safe to tune back to his show.
Around J or something. You'll have to wait until new year if you want the normal show.

He's got stuck in a rut on letter T.

Yes, breaking News isn't really Nick's area but he's always made it clear that he's not a journalist, and I get the impression he plans his shows very carefully and that's just how he works. He's also not the type of bloke to pretend he knows about someone if he doesn't.

I thought he handled last night as well as he could really, facilitating and prompting the various news people that were dropped into the show but making it clear that they needed to lead the reporting as he wasn't an expert himself.

Nick does struggle with breaking news stories but as stated he is not a journalist.

I thought it was a bit silly the way they changed the whole show for George Michael and you could tell Nick was displeased. Must have messed up the whole A-Z thing too.

I wondered if the direction came straight from Richard Parks as he was on the radio himself by 1am and stayed on for a long time. He also said what a good friend he was of Georges and about how George had supported all their charities over the years.

Ultimately it would have been Park that made the call, the procedure is the most senior producer on the program would decide on if to go full breaking news mode and would call James Rea or Tom Cheal for guidance on what to do. In this case i'm guessing Park would have notified James Rea or phoned the XD at LBC and said to do rolling news.

If that's the chain of command, that's ridiculous. In what way is Park a news journalist?

He's an ex-jock cum PD & record label manager. Admittedly, among the most established and time served in the country, but still, unless I'm mistaken, not a journalist.

It was absolute overkill and out of place with LBC's normal format. They usually barely touch music/showbiz.

They did the same when Whitney Houston went.

Unfortunately, it's all about ratings. Especially over Christmas with an audience which has a lot of time off work.

My advice is to switch it all off and play charades with the family.

As i say James Rea, On Duty Editor and the Exec Producer would usually make this call and Park would have very little to do with it however in this case with the whole of Global going into George Michael mode it seems it was a Parky call. For Capital to play George Michael songs would only have been authorised by Park or Tabor, it's heavily against the brand and no one else would authorise that without asking them.

I gave Nick a miss this week. I'm guessing it was the usual Trump/Brexit stuff again?

Not at all, it's the 2016 A-Z.

The inane borefest that was that A to Z was the reason I gave the past week a miss mostly. Heard some last night and tedious didn't begin to describe it. Why does he fall back into such predictable and rather banal end of year cliché radio.

Turned on at approx 22:15 and he was talking about Trump, so I switched to TalkSport. Just switched back over and he's still talking about Trump.

The man is obsessed.

Surely he is losing a substantial number of listeners by spending 3 hours talking about Trump every week. Is this what it's going to be for the next 4 years

If so, I'll have to find something else to listen to I guess

Thank heavens the A-Z bore-fest is over. Though he will probably just move across to the Trump-fest

He's still listed here: http://www.lbc.co.uk/radio/schedule/

Schedule is slightly confusing for shows that cross midnight, but think that's still saying Fri & Sat night.

But ain't they a bit slow at updating the schedule especially if a presenter has gone, which I doubt.

I imagine if Nick had left, it would have been mentioned on the LBC thread.
Or have that lot even stopped listening to him?
