Have a strange problem. Had no trouble playing Blu ray discs till this week when i bought two .The picture is there but no sound.
The trailers on the discs have sound but when the movie plays there is none!

The two i bought are
House at the end of the street and
Man on a ledge

All my previous blu rays play okay. I have a panasonic blu ray player, bout 5 years old.

tried messing with the settings like changing from pal to htmc but no success.
any advice appreciated.

cant be the discs because i exchanged one and still no difference

First things first: If you haven't done so recently then do update the firmware on the player. This casn have a big impact on how the player handles certain discs.

Second: What are you playing the sound through?: TV speakers, a sound bar (if so, then how is it connected and is it stereo /pseudo surround/full 5.1?) or do you have something else for sound playback? Basically we really need more info includes makes and model numbers.

However, in the meantime with the limited info available then my first guess after a firmware issue would be that the disc has DTS-master audio and your TV doesn't handle that or the downscaled version of it called DTS. You probably need to make some changes to the player's set-up menu.

Both the disk and the Panasonic may have Audio output options. Set both to output Stereo if possible, may also be called PCM or LPCM. The TV and soundbar should work with a plain stereo soundtrack. That may be a workaround till you figure out how to update the firmware (assuming an update is available and it fixes this issue).

My rates are very reasonable.

£3,500,000 per minute or any part thereof.

If you are feeding the TV via HDMI then I would have thought the Blu-Ray and TV would have automatically set themselves to stereo mode anyway as part of the HDMI handshaking. Though that can sometimes be flakey and you have to give everything a stern talking to to get it to work as you want, not how the devices think you want them to work!
