What's the point of putting 3 for 2 offers on things like 100g Chocolate bars or expensive jars of coffee? I don't often buy giant bars of chocolate but when I do I want one not three, who in their right mind would want to buy 3 in one go?

Same goes for coffee I was about to buy my regular cheaper brand cos I'm on a budget but then I see this more expensive stuff that was on offer that I wouldn't mind giving a try but you have to buy 3 of the damn things! Make it 50% off, not buy 2 get 3!

This is the local Co-op too, it's not like you're going there to buy in bulk.

Exactly!

You don't have to buy special offers just because the supermarket has them. Just buy what you think you need and want.

I actually very rarely buy 3 for 2 or BOGOFs because they're never for things that I'm desperate to have a large quantity of.

Everyone who shops is 'on a budget' but some have a higher budget than others.

I've spent all my adult life taking advantage of 3 for 2 or BOGOF deals on things I use regularly. If it's not something I use, I don't care if it's on offer or not. If you do take up the offer, there's nothning that says you have to use all 3 at once.

The ons that annoy me are the offers on perishable goods - lie BOGOF bread that Morrisons did when I shopped there. (A lot of my more elderly neighbours benefitted from the 'free' loaves I got though!)

Anybody who has cupboards and the ability to understand the concept of the "Use by Date" probably.

bread freezes really well, & as I mostly eat is toasted anyhow, bread from the freezer is great. But it was nice to help out the neighbours.

Is it me or does anyone else consider a 100g chocolate bar to be average movie sized bar

Agreed. Give me a 200g and then we're talking chocolate.

Can't you just buy 3 of them and keep the others for another day? I'm fairly sure coffee lasts a while.

Yes, I don't find the concept nearly as daunting as the OP does.

No I won't buy one, I'll buy something else. I look at the offer and see that you have to buy 3 of something you don't want 3 of in order to take advantage of it, it's an insult to your intelligence. They increase their chances of a sale from me if they make it 50% off instead of 3 for 2. Then if wanted 3 I would still buy 3, they can't lose.

So you buy one of something else?
What are you actually railing against?
I only ever buy by "price per 100g/kilo/litre" etc always displayed in small print under the price on the shelf.
So I have a choice - buy a single leek at a certain price or buy a pack of leeks at a cheaper price and wonder if I can use them all.
It's a choice.
It's not an insult to my intelligence.

'An insult to your intelligence'?

I really have no idea how you have come to that conclusion.

I buy 200g bars, but each lasts me a fortnight. I normally buy several at once and keep the rest in the fridge because I have room. There are offers I avoid because I know I wouldn't use up the goods before they expired. I assume they are aimed at large families. Presumably such families have to be big spenders, so are worth attracting.

The coffee I use, is almost £4, per 100g jar. When it is on offer, £2 for the same size jar, I buy in bulk. Same with the almond milk I use. Usually approx £1.60, I stock up on the UHT unsweetened, when it is £1.
