the lovely Sarah kennedy will return to late evening Radio 2 with her ''my pouting pussy show'' it will include pictures of listeners cats....it will work great on the tranny!! instead of waking up to the lovely Sarah we can fall asleep to her velvety voice and hacking cough
she will have a new segment called ''online shopping at sainsbugs'', listeners will be able to call in to guess ''whats in Sarah's basket'' and win a month's supply of felix if they win.

the second hour of the show will be called ''is anybody there'' NO, that's not a reference to the listening figures but instead her seance segment in which she will call forward the spirits of Terry Wogan, Jimmy Young and Tanqueray...it will be like days of old with mirthy chit chat about taupe sweaters and days at Henley regatta.

the third hour, yes its a long show, will be her race relations hour sponsored by UKIP....this hour will be called ''i've never heard of Didier drogba'' and will include a listener participation phone in for ''spot the coloured gentleman''...think spot the ball !!
at the top of the hour we will finish with a thrash metal tune and Sarah will merrily hum her way through it.
of course, there might be the odd evening when the lovely Sarah is too tired to turn up so Mo Dutta is being brought out of mothballs as emergency cover.
by this time next year the Sony radio awards will be flying in.

Merry Christmas one and all
It won't happen as she have the sponge in the oven. 🎅

OK - here is what I think!

Wireless Group sell off their stations, with the exception of Talk Sport 1 & 2 & Talk Radio. They are all rebranded SunTalk.... Virgin is purchased by Global and merged with Radio X but using the Virgin Brand.

Lincs FM stations sold off - The main station becomes Lincs 1 and takes all daytime programmes from Viking. Smaller stations in Yorkshire merged to become Bauer 2s.

After consultation Capital and Heart drop all local programming with the exception of Scotland and Wales who are forced to take a local breakfast show.

UKRD subject to a hostile takeover - probably by Bauer, and their stations join their network either as a whole or some are merged. The same happens with Celadors Breeze network

New Breakfast show for Capital London, after nationalisation...possibly hosted by Moyles

Gem & Frees integration into Bauer Network programming is a disaster and they quickly revert back.

Digital 2 increases coverage and more niche stations join including a national versions of Cheesy FM & Chris Country

BBC reformat their local stations into city stations instead of county ones and bring them younger.

Radio 1 announce another new breakfast show as their audience continues to decline.

Radio 2 announce that Scott Mills is to replace Simon Mayo.

Heart won't get rid of local shows (poss switch locals 1-4) they're just investing in new shows and presenters. Capital other hand could see cuts

Not Jan 2018 for Greg James but he could take an extended break from Radio 1 during the Ashes and then take over in the Spring.
Doesn't the Ashes finish after 8th January? Or does he have other plans?

Further moves to bring community radio into parity with other stations, with a number of major restrictions lifted by OFCOM. This results in at least 3 or 4 stations having a notable impact on RAJAR figures and advertising revenues of the heritage stations in their respective town and cities, as they up their game.

Vinyl Heaven gets picked up by the BBC for regional/national playout on a Saturday night, giving Stephanie Hirst a substantial audience.

The uncertainity around the Lincs FM group and any possible takeover/ shareholder revolt continues...

A permanent successor is found to Brian Matthew who finally retires from SOTS

Philip Schofield returns to Radio for the first time since the early 90's - Radio 2 or Magic though?

Radio 2 return Tony Blackburn to POTP - Gambo to develop a similar show based on the American Billboard Charts.

Further networking of output on Capital and Heart - talk that local breakfast shows will go within 18 months as presenter contracts come up for renewal.

Noel Edmonds states he is seeking funding to roll out his Positivity format on National DAB

The BBC launch a 1 month pop up DAB channel to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Radio 1, playing sessions, documentaries and one off shows from ex-jocks, culminating in a full day of live programming on the 30th September 2017 with Blackburn on Breakfast.

Sam FM is replaced by Fire Radio.

100% Dragon Hits starts broadcasting across South Wales and the West like it claims and not just on the Somerset local mux.

I think Brian Matthew will retire from Sounds of the Sixties, sadly. Either Tony Blackburn or Tim Rice (who's currently standing in for Brian) will replace him (I think it's more likely to be Blackburn though, to be honest).
Sadly I don't think Brian will return to SOTS and will announce his retirement soon.

Sara 11.30 -1pm then Jeremy 1-3pm , Steve back to original radio one slot 3-5.30pm and Simon 5.30-7pm
That would mean paying another daytime presenter for just a 90 minute show and they won't due that with the cutbacks.

I thought it was just free & not gem that was going to be integrated in to bauer network ?.
I would not be surprised if Gem becomes absolute radio as bauer looks to closeing Absolute on AM 1215

How about: Star Radio North East bring back Mark Page with a full time show and start broadcasting on DAB?.

Greg gets R1 breakfast. Grimmy, no idea.

Scott Mills goes to R2.

Moyles parts with Radio X but Global find a better alternative straight away.

Jon Gaunt finally gets his comeuppance as an awful hypocrite (more so than being unemployable and doing shows from his spare room).

Brian Matthew isnt on the radio any more (retirement or otherwise)

A related question- Len Goodman. Is he completely retired or just from Strictly?

I think if Small Scale DAB multiplexes launched in the Durham and Darlington areas Star Radio North East would launch on DAB.

Same for UKRD's Sun FM would launch on DAB if a Small Scale DAB multiplex launched in the Sunderland area.

If UKRD's Sun FM and Star Radio North East joined DAB by launching on Small Scale DAB it's two other national brands would join the multiplexes which are My Music Radio playing 70's and more featuring David 'Kid' Jensen and Pat Sharp and Encore Radio a station dedicated to songs from the musicals.

Sun FM and Star Radio North East could start share programming outside Breakfast and Drive and Mark Page could be networked across both stations. Sun FM could be rebranded Star Radio. This would give Star Radio North East a bigger coverage area.

DEREGULATION

- Full deregulation for AM stations but not FM.
- FM stations will have the choice to go down to 4 hours anytime within daytime on the condition of more local news and information – including local news returning on shared services.
- Due to the importance of weekday breakfast it is required that programme will come from within the station’s nation and also expected a station is in full control of the programme.
- Music genres will be removed from FM formats but any target audience (such as age ranges and communities) will remain unchanged.

GLOBAL/COMMUNICORP

- Heart and Smooth keep local breakfast due to the restrictions listed above. The London drivetime shows get rolled out to the rest of the network apart from Smooth Wales.
- In England Capital network breakfast show with Roman Kemp, Scarlet Moffat and George Shelley with drivetime becoming the local slot with the current breakfast teams transferring in most cases.
- At LBC: Nigel Farage finds time in his diary for a weekly show by September. Steve Allen goes back to a 5am start during the week.
- Classic FM: Bill Turnbull takes over a daily show.
- Radio X: Moyles stays, Vernon Kay leaves. Dave Berry joins to do a Friday evening indie disco show and weekend 8-11am.

BAUER

- Kiss becomes CHR and moves most of the specialist output to Kiss Fresh.
- Question mark over Absolute as heat or Magic Chilled takes over the two FM frequencies.
- City Talk returns to an automated music and rolling information format but keeps early evening sports shows.
- Mike Toolan moves to another daytime slot on Key 103.

BBC

- At Radio 1 Scott Mills is still on afternoons at the end of the year.
- At Radio 2 Brian Matthew returns to announce his retirement from SOTS replaced by Paul Gambaccini allowing Tony Blackburn to return to POTP.
- Adrian Goldberg steps down from WM breakfast to work on other projects.

WIRELESS GROUP

- Jon Holmes moves to a daily show on Virgin Radio but keeps talkRADIO Friday afternoons.
- Another one of tR’s daytime line-up also moves to a weekend slot so they can take up a TV opportunity. This means James Whale and Ash and also The Two Mikes move to daytimes. The latter stay on talkSPORT at the weekends and for H&J stand-ins.
- There’s some kind of spin off in relation to the local radio interests involving a MBO and a merger with one or more of the smaller radio groups. News UK keep a minority interest.
