As the smart phone market matures Apples reliance on the iPhone for the majority of its income must be a worry for them. Still Apple are making mega bucks and wont be going bust any times soon. However tech companies cant rest on their laurels.

Apple sold 45.5 million iPhones, 9.3 million iPads and 4.9 million Macs in the quarter -- that's a year-over-year decline of 5.2 percent for iPhones, 6 percent for iPads and a whopping 14 percent for the Mac.
For the first time since 2001, Apple's annual revenue has declined year over year, falling from $233.7 billion in 2015 to $217 billion in the 2016 fiscal year. That 9 percent decline marks the first annual revenue drop since 2001, largely due to the continued decline in iPhone sales, down 5 percent year over year.

We're still winning. Android is still a sucky mess of scamware, malware, corporate spying, and selling you to scummy advertisers.

Obviously trolling again.....

No. The other thing that jumps out at me is the display. I've defended Apple's choice for years but it's getting harder. I'm probably going to have to buy a Pixel. I haven't properly tested one yet, only briefly held and played around with for a few minutes, but the camera is getting fantastic reviews too many saying it truly is better than the iPhone in many situations.

The Pixel is a premium device worthy of the price tag.

I don't like Android, I like Google even less as company:

Unfortunately due to marketshare I really need an Android device as a reference device for my business. I have an old Nexus that will do for another year.

Also kinda hypercritical to accuse me of trolling when you start threads like this one.

No this wand also promotes sky at any cost and blows smoke up its dirty crack.

Just ignore him as he is clearly here to make such silly remarks. I guess it is school holidays this week.

I think there is trouble ahead for Apple and all the smartphone makers. The top end smartphones of the last 2 or 3 years that use 4G are so capable that most people don't gain any great benefit now from upgrading. We'd need a revolutionary function or service to make it seem really worth the while. It's already happened with tablets now the majority are quick, lightweight and have good screens. The big growth area now is trying to get the developing world to sign up of course.

I recently bought the iPhone 7 Plus. Debated it for a while and had previously had the iPhone 5 for quite a long time. Needed a new phone and after much thought I decided that the 7 Plus was the way to go. My main reservation was the size of the phone. When it arrived, I gave it three days and had enough. It's a fantastic phone and I love the camera, but the size of it I can just not get along with. I initially thought that I'd get used to it, but after three days in I just found it more and more annoying. It's verging on being a tablet in my opinion. I ended up taking it back and changing it for the normal iPhone 7 which is larger than my old iPhone 5, but a size that I'm happy with and I really like it. I don't think larger phones will ever be something I will like.

iPhone Plus models are huge - often referred to as surfboards. Try out a Galaxy S7 Edge in your hand - 5.5" screen that's very comfortable to hold in one hand even for small handed people.
