iphone stuck in reboot mode

I think I know the answer to this but thought I would ask on here anyway

last night my iphone 5c got "stuck" with the apple logo on the screen

I have tried pressing the home button and off button together to reboot the phone, it goes off and comes back on but gets stuck with the logo on the screen

plugged it into itunes to restore it to factory settings, which took the best part of an hour but it couldnt complete the restore for some reason

I think the phone has probably "died" but anyone got any ideas please?

thanks in advance

It could well have died but it is worth trying to get to "DFU mode" - which is a basic bootloader and has an icon of a cable being plugged in to iTunes

To get to DFU mode

Plug your device into your computer with a USB cable.
Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds.
Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button.

iTunes should see it as being in restore/recovery mode

I've seen several references to a bit of software called Reiboot

http://www.tenorshare.com/products/reiboot.html

which it is claimed can get an iPhone out of the "stuck on logo" screen mode.

It would be cheaper to buy a screwdriver to open the phone (£0.99 with included postage from eBay) - disconnecting the battery is certain to reset it! Last time I looked the battery terminals were pop on/off connectors.

There is a link at the bottom of the screen to tempt you into buying the Pro version but if the phone is plugged into a USB port there should be two sections above that, one saying "Enter Recovery Mode" and one saying "Exit Recovery Mode". Neither of those requires any payment to work.

At least not on my Macbook and iPhone 6.

Only clicking on the box at the very bottom of the screen did I see any prompt for a payment and that was for more like $40 for the Pro version. There was certainly no pop up demanding payment before I could use the program.

Just to clarify what I am seeing is what is shown in this link

http://www.tenorshare.com/guide/fix-...pple-logo.html

nothing more.

OP, read this post carefully and then try again before resorting to anything more drastic.
