It also drowns out the great singing and music from the band.”

^^^^ This.

And... yesto, Craig said that Greg and Natalie had included a number of crowd-pleasing moves, but that it wasn't close enough to a rumba. Tess immediately said, 'Well they [the audience] loved it'!' Yes, Tess, that's what Craig said

The cynic in me feels that it's so easy for a floor manager to start the clapping off sync for dancers they just don't want to win the competition.

It irritates me so much I've just stopped watching now.

Agreed.

One wonders if they train the "floor managers" in the same school that they train the morons who add canned laughter to everything in "comedy" shows. Both seem to have a total lack of empathy with the actual proceedings.

Off-topic, but I assume you mean 'American comedy shows', as UK TV has striven more for live audiences (or no laugh track at all) as time has worn on - Dave

It is quite off putting (is that a word?) when you are trying to enjoy the dancing and singing.

Maybe I am getting a bit long in the tooth now but it does take some of the enjoyment of the show away

I never really register the clapping, but I did find it funny to see Denise Van Outen, Kimberley Walsh, and Rachel Stevens all in a row at the front for Claudia's dance, very much *not* joining in with the audience clapping.

They're the "invitees" there "just to be noticed." The camera doesn't just happen to catch them.

You can't make an impression if you're clapping like the rest of the prols.
