Porting and notice period?
Hi guys, not ported my number over in a few years, can you advise the following ..
How long does it take to port over a number these days? Do I need to give notice? I am with EE and plan to switch to VF. Do I just get a PAC code off EE and give that too Vodafone and not worry about it or will EE charge me if I don't give notice? BTW, I am now out of contract with EE. |

Even though you are out of a long-term contract with EE there may be a "30 days notice to terminate" clause. If so giving EE notice as soon as possible would cut down their final charge to however many days were left! |

You have a choice, get your PAC (which effectively starts your notice period) and only use it on day 27-28 (and hope there are no issues with the port) or just use it when you get it and you'll be paying for 2 contracts for the first month. |

Well you usually pay a month in advance on a mobile contract, so if anything you may get a credit for any time that you haven't used.

Thanks all, sounds like the best option is to get the PAC code, wait perhaps 3 weeks-ish and then port over, at least that way I have a day or two grace if there are issues and will minimse paying for both contracts at the same time.
