Moto G 1st generation -what just happened?
I have the above phone, yesterday I had the phone in my pocket and noticed that it felt rather hot.
when I took the phone out of my pocket the screen was black except for a text box which said 'Android is configuring app x of 72' with x being an incremental number. This looked to me like some sort of update had taken place but when the phone (automatically) restarted and I checked the 'About Phone' info nothing appeared to have changed - Still on Android 5.1 and the patch level and kernel version are both dated some months ago. Any way phone started normally and seems to work ok, however, prior to this incident I could charge the phone fully in the evening and by the next evening it would show the battery at about 84% but since this happened the battery is down to 45% after the same time period. Just wondered if anyone could shed any light on this please? |

But are the Kernel version and Patch level dates the same as they were before this happened? On my phone these dates are several months before I even got the phone so date may not mean very much.
So it could have had a minor Android update. Though usually when my various phones over the years have had OS updates they have always been flagged up before hand and can't think of any that loaded by themselves. As for the battery drain. First thing I would check is what apps are running all the time and close down any that you don't need. See if that changes anything. |

Thanks for the reply,
I have no idea what the previous versions were to be honest, I just assumed that if one of them had been updated it would be carrying yesterday's date. I have checked and turned off some apps and will see what difference (if any) it makes to the battery life. |
