Whereas before I never missed an episode as you never know if a surprise storyline or reveal would come from no where, or a old character would turn up out the blue, it's now unfortunately back to being something I can easily miss for a few episodes, come back into it and not have missed anything noteworthy, I've only watched monday and Friday this week but don't appear to have missed anything when tuned in this evening

EE has become very poor.

Who really cares about -

Lee and Whitney
Becks and Shakil
Lauren and Steven??????

I don't. EE is currently all about the younger characters and it's deathly boring. Lauren Branning is a big yawn and can't seem to pull off her own SLs. Her alcoholism a few years back was most tedious. She's much better as part of a big SL like Lucy's murder. A mix of age group SLs is much

EE is currently crap.

Have really enjoyed EastEnders during the last few months. The sense of community, character driven, character development, characters given the chance to breathe naturally...the show being able to breathe naturally. More please. No more sensationalist nonsense as seen in the past.

I disagree, we've seen more of the older characters in the past 4 weeks then we have in the last year, he making use of the cast unlike DTC.

Not the last ep though and the relationships mentioned are tedious.

Sometimes I like the cool down periods, not every episode at the very start need to be BANG! BOOM! 8 deaths!

He's doing well so far..which surprises me since I was loathing him for all the cuts but he's doing a swell job.”

why do people keep saying stuff like this??
i dont want stunts and constant death, just interesting characters and stories. Eastenders has none of the above.

Well said.

its so bloody boring at the moment, corrie, emmerdale and EVAN HOLLYOAKS are trumping it.

I preferred it when it was sensational. At least it was entertaining, which is what a TV programme is supposed to be. Every single Hollyoaks episode holds my attention, even if the storylines are over the top.

Its the end of october and bloody shaqil is in one of the main storylines! i like the characters interacting with each other more its good, but come on who gives a **** about shaqil, its too low key for me.

It's terrible right now. Shakil and Bex's storyline wouldn't even be good enough for an episode of Grange Hill. It insults viewers' intelligence. Why do they think we are interested in that? I'm worried that the show is going to be dull like this for a long time now. Even Jamie Borthwick hinted Christmas would be 'low-key'.

Dot, Patrick and Claudette featured in the latest episode?

Whitney & Lee are leading up towards Lee's exit and likely Linda's temp exit, their are reasons for it, its playing out stories and pairing that was already in place in the previous EP reign.

Bex and Shakil are dull but its reflecting real life, girls her age get pressured into sex.

Don't know what the problem is, the show is the best it's been in years.

Look I'm not singling you out as I no a lot of people think the same but how? I just don't no, it's so boring and unconvincing just when I thought nothing was as unrealistic as Kim and the dreadful driving, Claudette is jealous of Dot? Why. The women's in her 50s, very attractive and I imagine great personality, why she was bothering with Patrick was questionable but jealous of a 90 year old, really?

then there's the lee and Whitney stuff ? Who cares, but befor you shout me down the man has had a Job, if he actually has one. For a week, then now he is paying for everything, he wouldn't have even had a wage yet alone pay for all he's doing,

Impatient teenagers on Facebook and Twitter don't speak for millions of viewers who watch the show 4 times a week.

I also think the show is at it's strongest in years. The Cokers depature was brilliantly written and since then we've had a nice build up to Lee and Whitney's wedding.

If you preferred the Sunset Beach style 'burying characters alive', I can see why you'd have a problem with the change of pace to intelligent character driven drama.

There's alot of people slamming everything on Facebook

I wouldn't pay much attention to anything said on social media in any case. It's like ds. They don't generally represent the public as a whole

Doesn't that show how irrational jealously is though?

So what? That's just three older characters and far less than the six younger members of the cast I mentioned.

I don't care why the characters were in the ep. The fact is they were there and are boring and that was my point.

SOC is just trying to revive all the characters which have pretty much been slaughtered under the DTC era. So everything is low key. But it's about the characters, not OTT drama in every scene.

The most important thing for me is the effort being put in to revive Ben and Kathy's relationship.

Yes he did, apparently he had too much sensationalism for The Archers, yet he's apparently 'too boring' for EE

BIB: Completely agree. He hasn't been there for very long at all and has already improved the show no end. Like others have said, once something big happens the audience will care for it a lot more.”

He seems to be the Goldilocks of the soap world. Eventually he will find a soap that is juuuust right.

You said there had been no older characters in the last episode, when there had, the cast has a diverse age group, its not going to not use the younger lot because some viewers don't like it.

Fair enough, some people do like them though.

The only complaints I have of SOC at the moment are the lack of announcements on new characters as well as the rather 'safe' doof doofs. Other than that I'm happy with the product.

Lee and Whitney ...what a total borefest and entirely predictable
Hes a dreadful actor who looks constipated in most scenes, I just dont see what the Whitney character sees in him at all, talk about a wet blanket!
