galaxy S7 VOLTE
Hi i did try ask in the EE thread but didn't get a reply so maybe my post was missed with the amount of reply's that thread gets, so ill ask away
Does anyone know when the S7 EDGE non EE branded is likely to get VOLTE access, weave had wifi calling for a fair time now so id of thought VOLTE would of been around by now, i did have a second phone a LG G5 for a while that was unbranded and flashing the EE firmware gave it access. If i can avoid flashing EE branded firmware on my S7 though id prefer that, so does anyone know if its going to be a soon thing or if the only way im going to access it is by re flashing my phone Thanks Ash |

Shouldn't need to reinstall everything, flash it over the top and the settings should update accordingly.

As long as you use the HOME_CSC rather than the CSC file it won't wipe anything. You can only use the same or newer firmware though. If you need to downgrade as the provider you want to switch the phone to hasn't released a new version yet, you have to use the CSC and wipe the phone.

It's odd that EE require their firmware for it to work.
IIRC the S7 and edge work fine with 3 VoLTE on the unbranded firmware. Why can 3 do it but not EE? |

IIRC the S7 and edge work fine with 3 VoLTE on the unbranded firmware. Why can 3 do it but not EE? Going forward, every phone should support all VoLTE networks. Maybe EE or other networks may have to adjust some settings at their end, I really don't know. It's all a bit of a mess given how 'old' 4G is now. EE, as with other networks around the world, are starting to put pressure on manufacturers to get VoLTE support in phones - new AND OLD. I do think there will be a time where a lot of phones get support quite quickly, and it rolls backwards to cover phones a year or two old. Every operators wants and needs VoLTE, but it's mad that it has taken so long and only now does it seem that people are taking it seriously. Meanwhile, we have the current mess. |

The current BTU firmware came out before the latest EE one, so the next one might support EE VoLTE.

I'm also waiting very patiently for EE's VoLTE to be activated on my S7 BTU Firmware, don't want to flash to EE branded firmware. The Wi-Fi calling works fine though on BTU Firmware.
