Ummm I'll buy that one just.

"so Rose didn't have to go back again to save him"
So she will have no memory of any of it either?

I think with paradoxes, you can't fixed everything and do a good storyline. So in the end, it's better to have a good storyline than to make every little thing fixed.

But also, the car driver didn't "hit and run", instead he stayed around. That would have altered his life timeline to what it originally was.

Exactly...I suppose that's something from the old Doctor Who that's been lost in the last 15 or so years - audiences now are conditioned to seeing a man meeting a woman (in most cases it's one and t'other even now), sleeping with them and the sex somehow ratifying their relationship. Bit sad really.

Still...what about the Jaffafeast? Reckon there's a really big, slimy, pointy-toothy Jaffafeast stuck somewhere like the Great One waiting to pounce?

If you're going to go all Biblical, consider Psalm 80:1 (801)...

Shepherd of Israel, listen!
Lead Joseph like a flock.
Your throne is on the cherubs,
Upon your tribes shine forth.
Stir up your mighty power,
And come to rescue us!

Another tenuous link to 'wolf' via 'shepherd via mucking about with 801 to make it 80:1. But good fun all the same

Yup that kinda fixes that one:

The car driving around WAS the original time bit repeating itself. So when Rose's Dad jumped in front of it, he was finalising the original time event. So in fact he did die back then when it was originally ment to happen - so to speak

We still have a the driver of the car who's life was changed from a hit and run driver to a hit and wait around driver.

I've added a little bit more to it by way of explanation, but basically yes.

And Rose would remember, because by travelling with the Doctor she is somewhat 'outside time' as it flows for you or I.

I hope not. The jaffafeast reminded me of a slug version of an Alien - H.R Giger must be pretty annoyed that they nicked his idea

Hasn't RTD said he will be concentrating more on who installed the Jaffacake in the space station rather than seeing the actual monster again itself...

As Cassandra said talk to the Face as I think the Face of Boe and the consortium/financiers/board members may have the answer...

I googled for psalms after remembering the still taken from the church - there was a psalm 6 (which if you look it up quotes someone beseeching the Lord to take away their pain and suffering and dry their tears. Is this the Doctor's tears for destroying Gallifrey?

He would have suffered the guilt of killing someone whether he stopped or not. By stopping, at least he will not have to carry the added guilt of being a hit and run driver.

A mate of mine was lucky enough to be in his studio many moons ago and apparently he uses bones, skulls and odd bits of thing in his work (I'm told, I'm no designer) and the place resembled an abbatoir...nice thought, eh?

Of course, if the Jaffafeast was like a worm (there's a word for it but bugger knows what it is) then blowing it into small pieces may not have been the best idea as now there'll be lots of little ones wriggling about.....

There was one small one in Dalek. When Dalek is talking to Rose it looks down slowly (I'm sure it's looking down her cleavage but maybe that's wishful thinking....or jealousy!) but then in the next shot it's looking straight at her again. I think this happens twice.

I love all the Bad Wolf references going on and all the discussion it's generating here but my theory is that it is going to turn out to be RTD's "See you next Wednesday" and in all honesty I won't mind if that's all it is.... I guess all you guys will be p*ssed off though.

Just want to say I'm loving this series...I've watched since John Pertwee and I think this is the best Dr Who ever! Not only the Best 'Who' but some of the best SF around on TV at the moment. So clearly made by people who care about it. CE is a good Doctor (not necessarily the best!), and BP is jaw droppingly good (who'd have thought?) The effects are excellent and almost unfaultable and the stories go from strength to strength. It's been said here that RTD is the weakest writer but remember that he is head writer and producer and so is in control of all the other stories anyway, and IMHO is doing a wonderful job. Long may he continue!

If you remember back to the EOTW, each of the representatives of the alien races were the 'mega-rich' of their kind - maybe it is their companies which make up the consortium, led by Boe?

Cassandra said she had shares in all of their rival companies (a common practice) so maybe they all had shares in each others?

Totally off topic for a moment, but did it remind you of anyone?

(Imagine it snuggling up to Little Moo on the sofa trying to watch 'It's a wonderful life')

OK, normal service now resumed.

RTD did say we would find out who installed the Jaffafeast later.

I think we haven't seen them yet...that is a surprise being saved for us til the end. If it isn't the consortium/financiers it is someone who has approached them with an interesting business plan to invest in that is behind it all. Speculate to accumulate etc and if they can make a quick buck out of it, even if it means death and destruction all around, then why would they care...

With reference to The Long Game (which I think refers to the reality tv show more than that actual episode itself) The Editor said "money prefers a long-term investment."

Hmm...

I don't think taking over the world in the conventional sense is the motive behind it all but knowledge is power and perhaps whoever buys or wins that will be best placed then to make their move.

Time is also the other major theme of the series besides money so could it be that someone is seeking the knowledge (teleportation is banned remember) to take over where the Time Lords left off. With that kind of power the universe would be their oyster..

"That kind of power would set me up amongst the Gods" to coin a phrase

I'm hoping there are loose ends in order to fuel speculation through July to the Christmas Special...also, it makes a nice change to have a show that isn't going to be ruined 3 weeks before the end because it's finale has aired in the US and what happens has leaked across the Atlantic, isn't it?
