Anyway, the recurring theme I noticed was The Sun.
It has been featured very prominently in several episodes so far.
Earlier on today I watched The Long Game again. That was the only episode I'd seen only once, so I watched it again today. It actually was okay on a second viewing. Not too bad, but not one of the best. But nayway, it while watching that episode that I noticed a few little things and made me realise the references to the Sun in other episodes.
In Episode 2: The End of the World, the entire episode was based on the Sun exploding.
In Episode 6
alek, there was an extended sequence involving the Sun at the end (But this could have just been coincidence)
In Episode 7: The Long Game, a news item appeared on the TV set reporting the sun flares. It was at that point It seemed a bit curious as to why the train of thought decided to create that news sequence. It was the sequence just before Boe was reported as pregnant on Bad Wolf TV.
But in Episode 8: Father's Day, the sun references were stronger than in any other episode.
The posters on walls saying "Time to Energise" or something like that. The lettering appearing underneath the fly poster images of a Sun...It just feels like the Sun is a theme for some reason.
How, why? I don't know, it's just that it's been featuring a lot.
Things like the news item in the Long Game, and Pete's solar power invention don't feel as though they have just been put in there at random.
I'm sure that there may be other references to the Sun in other episodes, but I wasn't noticing them before
And from last Saturday's episode, Father's Day, the Sun references appear to becoming more frequent now.”
*Pedant mode on* The Sun didn't explode in Episode 2, it merely turned into a red giant *Pedant mode off*
Interesting. You set me off on a train of thought.
"My planet's gone.
It burned, like the Earth
"The entire Dalek race wiped out in one second...10 million ships all on fire", "You destroyed us?
......I had no choice, "And what of the Timelords?", "......Dead. They burned with you."
From that it sounds like the Doctor caused the Gallifrey Sun to go supernova, much like he did with the Skaro Sun, as the only way to prevent a successful Dalek invasion and stop them getting their suckers on superior time travel technology. Although why that would cause them and the Timelords to be wiped out of space and time i've no idea. Something to do with the supernova turning into a black hole afterwards, perhaps?
