Corbyn and the boundary changes

Could Corbyn be out of parliament if the boundary changes do go ahead as proposed:

It seems that one of Jeremy Corbyn, Diane Abbot, Emily Thornberry or Meg Hillier will have to take one for the team and lose their seat.

No prizes for guessing who that will be.

Hint: It's the only vaguely competent one

If the changes go through as proposed Jerry would have to win over the votes of 30,000 Jewish voters added to his constituancy. Slim chance of that

Instead they are proposing some clever gerrymandering to keep him safe

As an Islington North constituent, who is more likely to vote either Tory or UKIP, I'd love to see the back of Corbyn, Abbott, Thornberry and Hillier.

Since Abbott is the nearest constituency to me by a few hundred yards I'd have to say that Corbyn becomes my favoured choice, though to live in a more marginal seat would be wonderful !

does this need to go through lords? As I can see it getting thrown back if so

They might want the criteria about determining the size of each constituency tweaked but the Lords don't tend to get in the way of things that were in a govt's manifesto.

Delay it? Possibly.
Kill it? Unlikely

Rest assured, him and Ms Abbott will still be in Parliament

Why? None of them will lose their seat

I expect several Labour MPs in London will stand down anyway thus freeing up a seat.

Margaret Hodge is rumoured to be retiring - she lives in Islington but represents Barking. So is Mike Gapes in Ilford as he is ill.

It may the best chance for the PLP to get rid of him.

Oh dear. It seems the Labour plan to "Jerry"mander a safe Islington seat without those pesky Jewish voters is not winning universal aclaim within the party

Quote:
“Kate Osamor, the shadow cabinet minister for international aid, surprised colleagues by turning up at a public meeting at Havering town hall to oppose her own party’s submission on the changes, the Guardian can reveal.

The MP said she was unhappy that Labour was suggesting her own constituency of Edmonton, which was barely changed in the original proposals from the Boundary Commission, should be broken up”

Clearly she's now a Blairite democracy denying red Tory and needs to be removed from the shadow cabinet as soon as possible for the sake of the L̶e̶a̶d̶e̶r̶ Party
