New British 10-dance champions

Sorry, nothing to do with Strictly, but ............................

Congratulations to Alexander Shindila and Jade Main who were recently crowned Professional 10-Dance World Champions in Miami. A great achievement, especially as they had not been dancing 10 dance together very long.

For anyone who went to see Brendan's last stage show, Jade is the sister of Crystal Main who appeared with Brendan.

I didn't know this. Yes, that's a good result for them.

Thanks Kaycee, I was going to post here but didn't as its not strictly related.
Jade and Alex are very good friends of mine and I am so very pleased for them and am proud as punch. They work so very hard, especially as there is such a height difference for ballroom, and this result is so very deserved after a disappointing International this year.. We have known them for years and had the same teachers in fact we still have lessons with J & A to keep our hand in, even though we don't compete any more.

Well done both, flying the flag for the UK. Congratulations.

Very big congratulations. I always notice her at ISTD competitions dancing with her pupils - she's a lovely dancer.

She is, lovely inside and out. All her sisters are fantastic dancers too. She and Alex make a beautiful partnership on and off the floor

Do you have any videos of them dancing?
I'd be interested how Pros manage a height difference, compared to those on Strictly

The world chmps they have recently won will probably be on youtube in a while. It is the WDC world chmps NOT the WDSF which is already on there, and not the same thing..

Other than than, there may be other youtube clips - just look up their names.

I have not looked but I know they were at the RAH last year and I recall seeing clips of them dancing, so that might still be available. They cope with the sizeable height difference really well on the whole, but of course they are professionals who can adapt, as did Tim and Jo ( Howson/Bolton) . Both Jo and Jade are teeny tiny.

I looked before I asked, and couldn't find anything

Clips might be there but probably the name of the event - i.e. UK Championships; British Championships, etc., but unless you know what they look like that won't be too much help. If I see any I will let you know.

In the meantime take a look at Joanne Bolton and Timothy Howson - wonderful UK ballroom dancers. Joanne is tiny, and Tim is tall.

If you google Joanne's name there are several great pictures which will show you how Tim has adapted his hold to accommodate Joanne.

Incidentally, both are lovely people.

You could also try looking for clips of Warren and Kristi Boyce, great height difference there too but looking at them dance it is not entirely obvious, Kristi is about my height but Warren is sooo tall.

I can't see Jade on any of the DSI clips or on youtube. She is quite distinctive as her hair style and hair colour are unusual for a ballroom dancer.

I did post some clips of Joanne and Timothy on a previous thread (Does height really matter?). Tbh, I think these are better, since with all due respect to Jade and Alex, Joanne and Timothy (and subsequently Chris) were a few notches up in ballroom. See below:

Yes. I agree of course they are better, Chris is a triple World Champion to name just 1 title, but Jade and Alex are 10 dancers, they don't specialise in Ballroom and so very pleased to be selected to dance for England. The other couple , Richard and Morgan were placed 4th.

As long as the man can effectlvely lower his centre of gravity to match that ( or nearly) of the lady, there should not be too much of a problem as far as swing is concerned.
