since its only 3 weeks till this comes out what tracks do people think will be on this?

A load of trash from the last couple of month's charts. Nothing worth listening to, in other words.

Recent pop chart hits on a "Now" album?! That's a rather left field guess if you don't mind me saying so...

Personally I'd expect it to consist of the entire side 3 of Yes' "Tapes from Topographic Oceans", recitations of several poems by William McGonagall and a jam sandwich that clogs up your CD player.

Considering there are only 2-3 new entries every week in the top 40 now . Every new song that made the top 40 that wasn't on the last one and you'd be there.

I guess that means that if they can't get the rights to all of them, then they're going to have to include the jam sandwich after all?

^ And there may still be enough room for a bag of crisps as well.

Not a bad now album

Good strong tracklist

People said the same thing back in the 90's, particularly the older generation when I was a teenager then, look back on it all fondly now. Vanilla Ice for example would have been seen as pop music trashing a classic by cashing in, but "Ice Ice Baby" has remained very fun to listen to. Same applies to what is out in 2016, some of it is still good. Like The Chainsmokers - Closer.

And these Now CD's that supposedly people look back fondly on are the most likely CD's to appear in charity stores up and down the country.

I cant find Vanilla Ice on a NOW but Now 17 which would have been around that period had all these on it

From Cliff Richard to Faith No More

There isnt a hint of guitar on this new one with Christine and the Queens being the best track by miles.

Of course, if you are not 'tuned in' to chart music right now, these compilation albums will not appeal to you. This is something I've learnt over the years when I frequently have spurts where I listen to chart music.

I'm a 26 year old male and as years have gone by, I've found myself turning away from the Top 40 chart music. My main station in the car is Heart but occasionally I'll listen to Absolute and Smooth. I'll have months where I won't take any notice of who's number one and you can say, I become isolated with today's music scene. Obviously during this time, when a new NOW album is released, I'll without a doubt turn my nose up at it simply because I don't recognise any of the songs.

Then, I might open Spotify one day and hear a song from today which makes me intrigued to check out some more recent music. I'll change from Heart to Capital or Radio 1 on my journey home and after a few weeks, become familiar with many of the songs circulating on there. Unknowingly, I'll also become more aware of the singles chart. During this period, if I see a NOW cd has been released (just like this one), I'll know a good majority of the songs simply because I'm used to hearing them and have allowed them to grow on me.

By the time Now 96 comes along, I'll probably be back into my 80s/90s music and wont give the album a second thought.

Now 17 with its bizarrely pixelated yellow cover. Saw it in Woolworths, looked at the track list and got my parents to buy it for me. Now 17 was the reason I became a fan of compilation albums in the 90s.

It does show just how much times have changed. The various genres covered on Now 17, and even the range of artists.

These days, once a particular sound becomes popular then everyone jumps on board and wants to do the same sound. Then you get all these similar sounding songs all becoming popular with the youth - maybe because it all sounds familiar. Anything unique or different isn't going to appeal to the Drake/Justin Bieber/DJ Snake generation.

To be fair, they are bought a lot from charity shops too. People like to buy old Now albums from them because they remember a lot of the songs on them.

I purchased a couple of Now! albums from That's Entertainment a few weeks ago purely for nostalgia's sake.

I sometimes think more recent releases tend to have some duff tracks on them but then again so have the ones I've treated myself to.

Its not that there are many duff tracks in the new ones most of it is ok or good just that it is all so similar, I guess they can only go by whats in eh charts but if they even looked at the sales only chart they would find some different sounds.

I've heard of one of those tracks. The little Mix one, because they appeared on the one show and talked about it

The charts are way more homogenous than they used to be- that's just how it is.

Bought NOW 95 yesterday. Good set of tracks on there.

Alright, there are some not-so-good ones on there (there have been better NOWs in the past, NOW 94 was very good) but still a very good NOW CD There have been some whereby only half a CD was worth listening to!
