...so far.

With all three new producers of the Big 3 soaps ensconced in their roles, my question is what characters are benefiting from less/more screen time AT THE MOMENT? Apologies if Hollyoaks has a new producer. I don't follow it so if it has join in.

I'll start

Winners

CS Barlows, Maria, Michelle, Leanne
EE Kim & Vincent, Billy & Honey, Dot,Carmel and Sharon.
Em coverage is spread amongst characters better but Whites, Joanie and Emma

Losers

EE Shirley, Ronnie & Roxy, Tina
CS Sharif and his family

Patrick is also getting a lot of screen time in EE (which I think is good).

Hollyoaks does indeed have a new series producer and the other remaining one has been promoted to senior. Hollyoaks have lost two of the three series producers they had this time last year.

I think every character has benefited!

I agree with your other soap stuff apart from shariff and family, they were about to benefit till the shariff actor messed it up!

In Corrie tho, more Maria which I am pleased about. I think Anna and Kevin have been on the loser side for a while but that is changing

EE, Billy also a winner! The fowlers have been pretty quite since Stacey's story at the start of the year, since Sonia was about to leave and after they are getting more screen time.

ED the big loser for me is Diane. Firstly being taken out of the wool pack to make way for charity but then they put her in the bob and then never show her there!

Thanks soap-lea for the response. Hollyoaks seems to be doing well. Yes I agree about Diane & Bob - they're just peripheral characters now which is a shame. Has Eric been featured recently?

Patrick is a fabulous character, I'm glad that SOC is making use of Rudolph Walker's considerable talent, he was sadly neglected during much of DTC's time, although the stroke story was very well played out in my opinion even if it did suffer slightly under DTC's block story telling.

Lovely to see you posting interesting threads SW, many threads on here get a bit samey at times but you and Scrabs really liven the place up

EDIT: Before the complaints roll in there are others that make good threads about EE I just think SW, Scrabs and Hilda find really interesting angles on it. Thanks

Thanks Mr A for your response too. I think it's such a shame The Coker left as they filled a void of older characters. Loved Patrick & Jim.

Anyway I'm happy with Peter Barlow back on Corrie. Just need David Wicks back on EE then I'm a winner...

And I don't ? You might want to check out a few of my recent threads

I think Patrick's recovery was realistic but hampered/ruined somewhat by the storyblocking so people didn't see the full effect

The Platts could do with a rest as could Phil & Ben Mitchell and Chas Dingle.

I think Chas has been very quiet recently, we have had to suffer charity behind the bar all the time

The platts will no doubt have a quieter 2017

Phil is MIA and I think he doesn't need a rest

While I haven't seen that many episodes since SOC took over (nothing against him, been travelling on my gap year) - Johnny has also benefitted not necessarily from more screen time but better time - he's interacted with loads of characters rather than just staying in the Vic and studying

Yes I forgot about Johnny and his interactions. I guess people want Johven though. Shame about non-existent Martin and Dot/Kathy interactions.

I should never have named people I always get myself in trouble But our partnership wouldn't work without a but of fire in it

I still really miss Diane in the pub. I also hate the Dingles being in there. Charity was OK, but she's gone off somewhere. I just really dislike the Woolie at the moment, and the Dingles en masse. I've really gone off them as a group.

The losers I guess have been:

James - splat, sorry love
Eric - nowhere to be seen
David - shackled to Tracey
Carly - shackled to Marlon
Nicola and Jimmy - they just seem to be comedy characters now
Brenda and Bob - nothing more than bit parts, same as all the older cast, Pearl, Diane, Rishi
Kerry - shagging Ross hasn't done her any favours
Harriett - totally sidelined, such a shame, as is Megan

The winners have been:
The Bartons - so so great seeing Moira, Emma, Ross, Pete and even Finn finally given something to do. Add Cain in to that as well.
The Whites - Rebecca arriving has given them a shot in the arm
Jai and Rakesh - Jai was vaguely interesting again with Holly (he suits being nice) and I quite like Rakesh's descent into despair.

And also unfortunately ...
The execrable Robron shoite
Tracey - I have no idea why this person is now in almost every scene

Those last two I just find unwatchable.

Has Brenda had a storyline since the death of her daughter whatshername again?

BIB Possibly the most annoying character in the history of soap, the less we see of him the better.

Thanks

Surely a tie between him and Kirk in Corrie?

Oh actually yes he does but I think he is more the unlucky supporting character in another's story. Sorry trying to speak without having to use the spoiler tags

Also yes Brenda hasn't had a story since Val pretended to be her and it all came out in the wash.

I suppose Elizabeth as Diane didn't want to be in nearly every scene as landlady perhaps.
