Sonia Albright in Hollyoaks. Fairly short term character who I felt still had potential.
Are there any minor/short term characters you think had potential in the long run?

Anna Blake in hollyoaks was killed off, when she had a lot of potential especially about her past between her and Patrick.

He was just starting to integrate with the rest of the village and become a fixture and... he died.

Sadie Young- Sadie (if you don't remember her) was the owner of the salon and Jake Stone's wife. The actress was good and she filled the middle class quota. She also showed controlling tendencies when forcing Jake to take on jobs and pretending his alcoholism didn't exist.
Vanessa Gold- Vanessa was brilliant, and bubbly's in the fridge is infamous. Zoe Lucker is also gold dust and is brilliant in any role she plays. They could have explored her possible OCD and made her a businesswoman.
Linford Short- Vincent's brother who made appearances alongside Andy earlier this year. I feel as if his relationships with Claudette, Donna and Vincent weren't explored in enough detail.
Daphne Fox- Kim and Denise's sister showed up for Denise's 'funeral', showed a dislike for her sisters for an unknown reason, and then disappears and is never mentioned again.
ED:
Caroline Swann- Laurel's sister always seemed quite detached and cold towards her family and I wonder why that is.
Natasha Wylde- She was brilliant. Amanda Donohoe was a steal for Emmerdale and they used her brilliantly. The whole Mark murder plot gripped me from start to finish. If Emmerdale could find a way to bring her back then I would be more than happy to see her again.”

Funny, as soon as I saw the title of the thread Caroline was the first character that came to mind. She's a very entertaining character, played by a brilliant actress, and her relationship with Laurel and Doug is so interesting. With Ashley leaving soon it's a great time to introduce her as a regular character.
Goosey Lucy from EE. A good actress, and together with Lady Di, they could have taken over Albert Square.
On a more serious note, Andy Flynn and Sonia Albright (if she counts). I'd also say Dylan Jenkins, Trevor's son from Hollyoaks, Reenie McQueen, Charles S'avage (he was there for a year, does that count?). Oh and Lockie Campbell if he counts

So many recently for eastenders!
Aleks, Charlie, Andy particularly all had great potential but fizzled.
I also agree some of the extras should get bigger roles- the paramedic, shrimpy.
Hollyoaks lost Porsche and Lockie way too early. It massively diluted the Pete storyline.
Nico on the other hand we can't get rid of! (Hopefully this week!)
