If you want to be a serious access then your not going to get it by being in.EE or Corrie
Are you
In recently spoke to.a very famous 70s sit com star and I asked if they would be interested in soaps they said (or words to affect ).No way God no
I.mean could you see likes of jenna Coleman or keeley hawes ever being in soaps
Er no.don't think so.”
Plenty of actresses/actors started in soaps and for many it was a platform on to bigger stuff.
A lot of the Corrie girls have done very well post exit obvious being Sarah Lancashire and Suranne Jones, Katherine Kelly and now Michelle Keegan are doing well and I expect Paula Lane to do the same.
Michelle Collins and Martine Mccutcheon, I think just had a very unfortunate time, they left at the height of EE both took very different directions.
Jenna Coleman and Joe Gilgun both started on ED for a couple of years and are both building up a good portfolio of work.
Hollyoaks also has a good up rise of actors going on to bigger work.
America is a huge example of actors starting out on soap operas and going on to incredible things.
I don't think soap is detrimental at all to someone career hard work is key, if your good and got the talent it will shine through.
