I stopped watching during the Blackburn era last year after watching the show consistently for over 10 years. Now that Kate Oates has taken over I was wondering if there has been a noticeable change for the better in the show, and if I should consider watching again. Or if I should wait a little longer to see if I should come back. I know what's going on roughly from the online spoilers. But what are you Corrie fans opinions?
Thanks

Hi Tomski!!
My best advice would be give it a go for a couple of weeks & see from there!!

I do think there's been a marked improvement but it may not be in big dramatic ways, there's just a better feel to the show altogether!!

Still a long way to go but it's heading in the right direction imo!!

As much as I'd love to say yes, it's a no.

Hi NDD and everyone else, judging by the comments I'm going to leave it for a couple more weeks and see how it goes from there. I will definitely give it a try though, like you said NDD, just not right now. I miss watching the show and I do hope I'll be watching it again eventually, whether that be in he next few weeks or a few more months. Thank you so much for all your replies. And I hope to speak to you more on Corrie threads in the future.

There are some good returns in the pipeline so it may be worth watching for them, Tomski, however Corrie is just same old same old and struggles to break any kind of mould. I can't see that changing any time soon.

It's the overall approach to the show that's the problem for me, not just one or two individual things.

I would check it out for yourself, I've caught up on Fridays episodes earlier and thought it was enjoyable and showing some sign of the CS I recognise and enjoy. However, it is a work in progress and in transition still. Must say i'm chuffed to see Peter back, always been my favourite CS character

No not at the moment.

But there are tiny green shoots occasionally to suggest it could be heading, slowly, in the right direction.

No it hasn't improved in the slightest. However I'm willing to give Kate Oates plenty of time as it would've taken a miracle for her to have reversed the damage of Blackburn's era already.

It's pretty good. But it's in my nature to complain, so my posts are always bitter and uncomplimentary towards the storylines and actors. It should get your attention once you give it a view. Very entertaining.

To be honest it is. It's not at it's best but it's far more watchable than when you stopped watching

I'd give it a couple of years to be honest.

I have watched corrie since I was a child so I love it however it has been weak recently and I have felt disappointed by poorly written stories and too many characters I don't like. I am keeping watching as I feel there is potential for improvement. I started watching Emmerdale as the clips and previews looked amazing and that was Kate Oates at the time and now I love it and have got really into it so if she can do the same to Corrie I think it could become good again. Corrie has positives as in some good actresses and actors like Jane Danson and David Neilson and just need to get the stories going and better new characters. Kate Oates has already started with the surprises as I was not expecting Anna to end up burnt.

I think it has been slightly more watchable recently, but it's not super engaging. However, it probably will take some time for it to improve.

I've found it more watchable lately than I have in a long time but Blackburn's damage was so severe it's going to take a while to sort.

Its sorely lack any decent acting talent.

It's watchable but the damage is still deep from the previous reign of terror.

And is in desperate need of axing some of the deadwood and some new fresh characters, return after return is not always a positive thing, The Platts are the only thing keeping me watching.

I think it will be well into next year before it really improves, at the moment I am bored with the Steve Mcdonald babies plot.

That's a terrible storyline, too many sensational elements at once (and we haven't even got to the part yet where Michelle finds out he slept with Leanne).

No worse than any of the other soaps, so yes it's worth watching as long as you don't take it too seriously.
