Claudia's daughter's Halloween accident in 2014
lundavra

Claudia has given an interview to the Sunday Times about the accident in 2014, to warn parents to check Halloween costumes.

The Mail has carried the story as well. The comments online are really sick even for the Daily Mail. Not the odd one either, about half are mocking her and showing no sympathy at all about the accident. Hard to believe anyone can sink so low.

The day the 'screams were real': Strictly host Claudia Winkleman reveals the horror of when her daughter's Halloween costume caught on fire

The Wail and it's readers are just awful in general.

People on line delight in being unpleasant.

There were a few comments on here at the time about Claudia being "unprofessional" for not turning up at work. Hopefully they felt suitably chastened when it became apparent how badly burned her daughter was.

The Daily Mail panders to the lowest of the low. Makes me annoyed everytime someone posts a link to it on here.

Hmmmm!! I remember that plenty of folks here criticised Claudia for missing programmes to look after her daughter. Some of the comments alluded o her lack of professionalism by failing to keep to her contract, and surely the child's father could look after here. TBH, I was shocked at such comments.

Poor Claudia, I bet she loathes and detests everything to do with Halloween now. I can't imagine she enjoyed this weeks Strictly much.

Poor Claudia, she put her daughter first and gets blasted for it. Shame on them all.

I agree. She most definitely had her priorities right. I think she's great on SCD but Zoe was a fine temporary replacement. Nobody could have replaced her as a Mummy by her daughters bedside. She was absolutely where she was supposed to be.

In all fairness not many . Yes there were some but there was also a lot of support for Claudia . We should focus on that and not give eejits who cannot empathise any attention

Claudia was a true professional throughout the awful ordeal . One who knew her priorities and professional enough to know it comes second to a child who needed her
Anyone who doesnt know that is just plain stupid

I know it's the Daily Mail, so the comments are generally trollish but it's really annoying that some of them are claiming it's self publicity. She's genuinely trying to stop it happening to someone else's child. I hope she ignores them and comes out every year to warn us.

That's just daft because Claudia writes a column in the Sunday Times Style magazine every week - this one happens to be about Hallowe'en.

There were plenty of stupid folks here if it made enough impact on me to stick in my memory.

Yes and I remember some of their names. I must admit it still colours how I think of them as posters and people behind their posts to this day. No they never ever backtracked or apologised.

And maybe they will feel ashamed if they read this thread now . We can hope

It's a tabloid, the Mirror has a far worse reputation and of course was once owned by the biggest criminal in the history of British newspapers (makes Murdoch look a nice person), then there is the Express, Star, Guardian, Sun ...... It is just that the Mail sells more copies and has much larger online readership.

It has of course grown because of the American influences (encouraged by companies wanting to profit out of it) but at one time people would improvise a costume out of some old clothes but now they buy these cheap costumes which are often made of dangerous materials.
