Sharon 'blah blah Ben..oh and where the heck is mine and Denny's name in your Will.. poor Ben but what about me and Denny' lool. The smirk, making sure she is present when he changes it, getting Richie to come immediately with the papers.. she's not about to wait, the gold digger wants to make sure she'll get some money

Ugh! great more of Lee sulking..thanks Abi. Can he just get professional help, sorry but I don't feel sorry for him.

No bins mention tonight. What an outrage!

To think that a year ago today, in an hour long episode, Gavin was scaring Kathy and revealed himself as Sharon's dad whilst he was keeping everyone hostage with a lighter over fireworks

Anyway good idea to make this story about Phil's will since there's no real drama to be had from it otherwise. No one seriously believes Phil is going to die. As with all the other plots where he's been at death's door, he'll be right as rain in a few months.”

I am surprised that TPTB did not contrive a scene where all of Lee's army buddies piled into his hospital room so he could beat them all up from his sickbed.

To be fair Sorcha, I never actually called her a gold digger. I said it won't help her cause with those who believe that of her. She did come across as entitled tonight and made no mention of what she's already had which could've given her and Denny a future.

Historically Sharon isn't a gold digger (the Mitchell bruvs helped her buy the Vic in the 90s but she was in love with Grant and I don't think the money really crossed her mind, she wanted the Vic out of love for the place not for security) but characters nowadays are at the mercy of producer whims some of which can be left field from how they were written originally. SOC has been better at characterisation than DTC but tonight was a blip for Sharon it seems. It did seem she was looking after her own interests. Yes she argued the point about Ben's sexuality but when push came to shove she was happy to settle for only her and Denny's inclusion in the will and looked pretty smug about it.

There's also the fact people change depending on life's circumstances. Sharon's been at rock bottom before that's bound to change how much value she places in £. I still wouldn't generally class Sharon as a gold digger but it's been a recurring thread in this stint. I remember a scene in 2014 where she was gloating over a drunk Shirley in Phil's house and made it clear she didn't care about Phil and that Denny was her only priority.

Not the same as saying she's a gold digger (so bringing up John from 2012 etc is irrelevant as TPTB obvs had different ideas for Sharon then than making her independent again) but I do think putting Sharon with Phil in 2013 was seen as a quick fix to getting the character out of the gutter.

I reckon it's macular degeneration, because it's the bit in the centre of her field of vision that's most affected.

I thought the Dot/Patrick scenes were good Sorcha. And though I thought Sharon came across badly in those hospital scenes they were still entertaining to watch IMO.

I wouldn't be too disheartened by the Sharon developments Sorcha. She isn't the only one who's had iffy writing and been blasted on here for it.

I thought it was decent apart from Sharon and Phil stuff. Loved the Belinda and Dot/Patrick scenes but I'm disappointed with Sharon's behaviour tonight. To make matters worse, the longest serving writer, Rob Gittins wrote tonight's episode which surprised me.

Belinda has only had the salon a few weeks, I think you'd had to have defaulted on debts for a bit longer before the bailiffs arrive.

EE threads back to being 11+ pages long, not bad considering the show is boring and everyone has stopped watching

It was a painful boring episode.

From the kids trick treating at early in the day banging just on her door, to bailiffs turning up banging and just barging in not saying shit, to kids nicking loads of barrels without anyone seeing and Masood walking around aimlessly.

I enjoyed most of the episode.

Poor Lee is feeling more depressed and inadequate by the day. It doesn't help that Whitney is strong and takes everything in her stride.

Dot's scenes were harrowing. I can't imagine how frightening it must be to be losing your sight especially when you live alone. What is she going to do.

The Belinda stuff was strange... she's only been open 5 minutes. I can't imagine what sort of debts could pile up in such a short time.

Am I watching the same show as most of you?

I know there are people who are happy with the way the show's going at the moment, and I'm one of them. They're OBVIOUSLY building to something, and these stories are really heating up now. The show is taking time to think about the character rather than the plot - it's the way it should be. They're exploring the characters so the stories that are coming will be better.

Sorry (not sorry), but I think tonight's episode was really good. I have enormous faith in Sean O'Connor. I think he's going to do brilliant things with the show. Why can't people give him time? His stuff's been on screen about a month and people write him off.

This.

I know I'm repeating myself, but what would people prefer, the days where Claudette was buried alive? The days where Gavin was chasing Sharon and Kathy around a mansion? Because the show was awful and cringeworthy.

The show is more mature, adult, realistic and well-written. I hope the BBC and SOC aren't taking too much notice of social media comments.

I hope so too. It was doing that what got DTC into a mess.
