they really are the most screwed up family in soap! so unrealistic all the shit they've been through!

wikipedia says one of Gail's husbands was a psycho who tried to kill her, one was stabbed to death, one drowned, only Davids dad escaped but cheated on her, Les Dennis has a bad heart

David tried to kill himself, started a hate campaign against Nick for shagging Kylie and tried to kill him, threatened a suicide mission and nearly killed his own daughter!

Nick has brain damage cos of his bro

Sarah had Callums baby so now Callum can never b forgotten by the Platts

Kylie killed Callum in self defence then David, Sarah and Kylie buried his body in Gail's manhole and covered it up, then Kylie was stabbed to death as she was getting her happy ending

Both of Max's biological parents are dead

Bethany was bullied for months

Callum terrorised the family for months and tried to kill Sarah

everything bad happens to them! if my family were like the Platts, I'd b worried!

The Poor Platt's They've definitely been overused a lot, particularly over the past year or so. Bethany's Bullying storyline should have gone to one of the more underused teens, Craig for instance, or even Aldi or Asda.

Gail:
Her husband Brian died after being stabbed in 1989.
Was cheated on twice by Martin (Cathy in 1994/1995 and Rebecca in 1999/2000).
Nearly killed by Richard in 2003 after he drove the car into a canal.

Nick:
His father Brian died after being stabbed in 1989.
His nan Ivy died in 1995.
Gail didn't approve of his first marriage to Leanne in 1997/1998.

Sarah:
Her father Brian died after being stabbed in 1989.
Nearly died after having her appendix removed in 1994.
Her nan Ivy died in 1995.
Teenage pregnancy in 2000.
The Gary Adams storyline in 2001.
Nearly died in a car crash in 2002.
Nearly killed by Richard in 2003 after he drove the car into a canal.
Was cheated on by Todd in 2004.
Her son Billy died after being born prematurely in 2004.
Jason jilted her at the alter at their first wedding in 2006.
David tried killing himself on her second wedding to Jason in 2007.

Bethany:
Kidnapped by Alison after being born in 2000.
Nearly killed by Richard in 2003 after he drove the car into a canal.
Electrocuted in 2003.
Her father Neil Fearns died (off-screen) in a car crash in 2003.
Kidnapped by her nan Brenda in 2003.
Nearly died after David left an ecstasy pill in one of her dolls in 2007.

Martin:
Nearly died in a car crash in 2003.

David:
Nearly killed by Richard in 2003 after he drove the car into a canal.

And people wonder why Martin Platt never visits.

It was me who cursed them on the grounds of moral turpitude. I'm glad to see it taking its toll.

He evidently finds dealing with cheese easier than dealing with the other Platts.

Gail Potter/Tilsley/Platt/Hillman/McIntyre currently Rodwell is possibly the most cursed character on TV !!! and here are a few reasons why:

1. She was involved in a mother/monster in law feud from hell with Ivy Tilsley for many years.
2. Her first husband Arr Brian was stabbed to death after a very strained two marriages to him, leaving her in the clutches of a mother in law even more hellbent on interfering in her life.
3. Her second husband Martin cheated on her twice, the latter affair resulting in divorce.
4. Her daughter got pregnant at 13 and also miscarried her second child, resulting in the revelation that her boyfriend was in fact batting for the other team and leading to the long running feud with Eileen.
5. Her third husband killer hillman bumped off some of her neighbours whilst ripping off the other neighbours. He also tried to kill Gail and her family.
6. She was terrorist by her youngest demon child for years and still doesn't have his respect today.
7. Her fourth husband tried to fake his own death only to actually cause his actual death and she was wrongly accused for his murder and then jailed for a few months.
8. She was then conned by Lewis Archer and lost the house which resulted in her becoming a tenant to her son and his girlfriend.
9. She then had to witness her son get an acquired brain injury because of her youngest demon child.
10. She then unknowingly slept on top of a dead body for months on end in her newly built granny annexe, which was then destroyed by van crashing into and revealing the body.
11. All of this resulted in her daughter having psychosis and being admitted into a mental health institute and putting her family in the spotlight with the police.
12. She then witnessed her daughter in law dying from being stabbed and the effects it had on her son and also nearly witnessed her granddaughter and son perish as well on the cobbles.

I am surprised that Gail herself has not had some kind of breakdown, even other characters and Gail herself always comment what a life of misery she has had, I think the writers must have some kind of sick sense of humour when it comes to story lining our Gail.

Her exit storyline when she does leave will probably involve a spaceship coming down to collect ET coughs I mean Gail and abduct her out of her continuing life of hell

Still my favourite family.

I like to think they'll take pity on her and send her off with a nice husband who's filthy rich, she can rub Sally's nose in it that she's moving to somewhere posh with a swimming pool and room for a pony.

Can't believe in the Platts at all any more.

Anymore then any other soap family? I can name a few that have similar actions/deaths happen to them.

I still think their one of the best things about Corrie, I know I might be a minority but I still enjoy their scenes especially the mess up sibling relationships.

Michael was a bore, they should just leave Gail single or stop getting her married as it becoming a running joke.

Me neither. And they are overused.

But the increased Barlows might overtake them; the major downside for me being more screen time for the tiresome Ttacy.

You'd think Gail would get tired of marriage by now, although it seems to be a hobby of hers as she was ecstatic at getting her vows renewed with Michael. Poor woman is going to be disappointed.
