I've never been this bored with EastEnders
I just rewatched Thursday and Friday's episodes as I got too bored watching them last week and started to do other things. I can't believe the producers and writers think these storylines are entertaining. It is as bad as Corrie was during their awful spell. Now Corrie is a lot, lot better than EE. Now EastEnders has suddenly become my least favourite soap out of EE, Corrie, Hollyoaks, Neighbours and Emmerdale.

I'm enjoying the new era but some people need to be patient. |

Some people need to have a bit of patience. Time is needed to rearrange characters ready for bigger storylines.

Lots coming up and it should be so much better now that we've had a chance to reconnect with the characters again. |

Whilst it's not busy and sensationalist, it's still keeping my interest. There's plenty happening in the background. Looking forward to seeing what happens at Litney's (Whee's?) wedding, whether Lee does actually have a job, what's really happened to Peter and whether Steven is lying, what's going to happen with Jay and the drug dealer, what the relevance is of the bin references, how do Lee / Linda / Ronnie / Roxy / Claudette leave, not to mention Max's return, Phil's liver, Dot's eyesight.....

As an initial fan of DTC (his first 6-12 months were pretty good), I have to say I find SOC's approach a breath of fresh air. The characterisation is on point and I care about characters again. I'm also pretty sure we're seeing the seeds being sown of new plots which will start to build over the next few months. Kim's driving is surely going to lead to her being in an accident or perhaps her knocking someone down.
I suspect the Denny / William bullying plot will also escalate. Plus we're slowly seeing Lee's depression head to his exit (I'm convinced he'll have a breakdown and walk out on Whitney and his family). Not too sure what the bin / rubbish plot is about to be fair. DTC's tenure really did turn into fan fiction after Live Week. Having Max rot in jail whilst so many characters, including Sharon and Lauren knew his innocence was appalling. This was then followed by rewriting the Watts and Mitchell backstory to integrate Gavin and Claudette into the show. The "Hello Princess" rewriting was unforgivable. I digress, but I'm much preferring the show at the moment compared to the dross DTC was doing towards the end of his tenure. |

The trouble is many of those characters are boring and I just don't care about them.

Its crap but there are so many of these threads now with the same old split of people saying its 'boring' then some saying they are loving it as its 'back to basics'. As if back to basics will really work in 2016
If the show carries on like this it WILL lose viewers and the producer won't last more than a year. |

If you don't care about the biggest characters in the show who are acted the best why bother watching it would save room for someone else to have a thread instead of you complaining.

I'd suggest to give it time, a break, or drop it and maybe try something new River City is a good alternative if you haven't tried it yet

I'm not giving it up. I have watched it regularly since 1989. Tonight's episode was much more enjoyable.

I am loving it.
For those of us who have watched from the start this is like the 1980's again, with subtle characterisation and the stories, problems and misery of everyday life such as Lee's depression and Dot's failing eyesight. It reminds me of all those people whining about The Fall because there were not car chases and explosions every five minutes. Whatever happened to people's attention spans? Give me this era over Philth and Grunt gangster shite every day of the week. |

Still not happy still not happy Ronnie and foxy getting the axe. And if he decides to kill at least one off it's going to back fire on him!

No offence SuperSoaper, you are of course entitled to start whatever threads you wish, but was there really any need for a near identical thread to one you made just the other day?
And I'm baffled as to why you decided to go back and rewatch two eps you clearly hated at the time. |

The OP is allowed to have an opinion without being labelled a 'complainer'.
I 100% agree with you SuperSoaper, and also a lot of the viewers are growing tired of EastEnders. I have seen some very negative feedback on Twitter and Facebook lately. Even under LN, I don't remember the show being as dull as this. Maybe things will start to change soon? |
