She's phenomenal and I'm really enjoying Dot's story and I hope it raises awareness.

Since the new feel of EE the last 5/6 weeks it's only really Dot that has been of interest for me, due to June. The rest has been dragging a bit (last week's episodes pretty hard work to get through) but this style of storytelling suits the character.

I could be wrong but think this is quite close to home for her too. I am sure I read June say her own eyesight is deteriorating.

She really is fantastic .....not many characters can make you feel actual feelings the way Dot does.

What a legend.

I am so glad that SOC is giving her a storyline she can really get her teeth into and as far as i am concerned she should have all of the duff- duffs that the Philth (inevitably) gets.

June is almost 90, forget about Peggy bloody Mitchell - Dot is a true female icon of the square alongside Angie, Lou, Pat and Pauline.

She was brilliant last night, and the story was really well handled and portrayed.

All credit to June Brown and Rudolph Walker. They really showed the younger cast how to act.

I think I'm one of the only people who can't stand the character of Dot. I have never really liked her and I have watched since the start.

I can't specifically put my finger on what it is I dislike about her, but I know a lot of people feel sorry for her but I quite often think she brings most stuff on herself.

I won't be shedding a tear when they eventually kill her off.

She's incredible its hard to believe she's almost 90. When she joined the show in 1985 she was 58 years old - just 2 years off normal retirement age. Who would have thought more than 30 years later she'd still be there.

Just wondering does Dot own her house? If not, how can she afford the rent, I imagine it would be extortionate for a house that size?
Also, I see she is still working in the launderette, I thought the storyline a few weeks ago was that is was being taken over and Dot was made redundant? Anyway, she is long overdue to retire, the idea that a woman of her age, frail and almost blind, would be able to run a launderette single handed is ridiculous.
However, I do think June Brown is incredible for her age.

Yes Dot's house is owned by the local council this has been the case since the show started. Its possibly the only property on the show that has never changed ownership.

Don't know anything about rents in London, but I would imagine a house that size would be in the region of £1000 per month, not sure! Would she even receive Housing Benefit as she works and has a lodger, so a bit daft.

Abi would be counted as family not a lodger. I imagine she gets some help with rent as the Launderette would not pay well.

If its council housing the rent wouldn't be that high even for London as it's classed as social housing, private rent it be crazy amount.

She a pensioner, so would get her state pension, if she got no saving I would imagine she get some help with housing benefit and reduction is council tax.

Abi would be classed as a tenant and would have to contribute.

I'm thoroughly enjoying Dot's prominence at the moment. June Brown is worth every penny they pay her. A true star.
