So Belinda's face lit up when Mas mentioned the equity in his house. With him to leave the show soon, does anyone think she's after his money?

Could he start gambling again before he leaves?

(Side note - I didn't realise he had any money! Also didn't he start gambling again earlier in the year?)

I think he is probably house rich & cash poor. And yes, I do think Belinda is after some money, she is the gold digger on the show, not Shazza.

Belinda is desperate for money and sadly it appears she is interested in his money. They have a brief romance next week but I dislike the way they write some women as gold diggers. E.g: Sharon and Belinda.

Sharon is not a gold digger.

As for Belinda hasn't she always chased money? it was a running joke with her other sisters when they first joined the show. At least her continuity is the same despite the long screen absence in between.

She isn't normally a gold digger and long term viewers know she isn't one but last night's episode did her no favours. However, she isn't the only character who suffers from bad writing.

Good point about Belinda and I forgot she was always a lady of leisure. She was married to Neville for a very long time and stayed with him so she can have a wealthy life and wanted to live in that big mansion. She is very dim-witted because she agreed to a 50k settlement but she should have asked for at least 200k because I'm certain Neville is a millionaire. I agree, it's refreshing they didn't change her original personality because the writers always change characters to suit the plot.

I have a feeling she will take money out against Masood's house. Which would lead to a very interesting storyline if Masood goes off again & Carmel is living there and there is a big debt against the house

I struggle to follow Masood's finances. He's had several business that have failed, gambled, lost Tamwar's university fee savings, divorced Zainab, yet still has his house. The family has been shown previously to have been short of money, yet there's never been any suggestion that Zainab took any money when they divorced - that would normally have seen the house sold. Now Masood has given up his job to travel round he world.

Belinda may well find that Massod has already taken a big chunk of equity out of the house.

Another mystery regarding the Masoods finances was when Zainab first arrived in 2007 as Denise's boss at the Post Office it was mentioned that Zainab owned a chain of Post Offices and was implied to be a very wealthy woman. Once the family moved to the square however Zainab's other shops were never mentioned again and the one they did own in Walford they lost just one year later in 2008. From then onwards the family were always shown to struggle for money and appeared to be debt ridden.

Why is Mas still around? Such a shame to see a once strong character dwindle into this shuffling pathetic bore.

His faux exit was pointless, he's back just to give Belinda someone to fawn over

No idea. He's in the spoilers w/c 14th November and I think it's his final week but I don't know for certain. I'm not impressed with Masood's storyline so far.

For one thing, Masood has the money that Shabs gave him from his grandmother (?) and he also was making a tidy profit from his food stall on the market as well as working a steady job earning about 28-30k a year. Now he has Kamil he probably also receives money from Zainab.

Ultimately losing businesses/claiming bankruptcy isn't the end of the world particularly if it doesn't effect your personal wealth which it clearly hasn't in Masood's case as they've never been under threat of losing their home (that I can remember). As he mentioned his house price has gone up and he appears to live quite comfortably but I wouldn't imagine he's particularly cash rich.

Why axe Massod just as they are giving him a storyline

He mentioned that he'd cashed in his Post Office shares to make the trip with Kamil.

It was also mentioned that Zainab had re-married earlier this year and her new husband was very wealthy. So if he is receiving maintenance from Zainab it could be a substantial amount.
