Dot mentioning Sharon's ex Tom that died in the fire at the slaters was a nice touch. It's hard to believe that's now 14 years ago.

I read it said that the story was one of Sean O'Conner's from his previous time at EEs.

Pity that Sharon herself couldn't give a stuff about him - she was too busy getting her hands on Phil's money 😊

Bad things happen on this day is what Dot said. In that case she must think Christmas Day is armageddon!

New Years Day must be another black letter day for Dot too. And February 19th.

In some ways I liked the sly dig at the way they've gone over board with Haloween melodrama many years but there is a slight danger in having the characters reference dates when they always have big "events". Its close to breaking the 4th wall.

she should have added at the end that they have nothing to worry about this year apart from a few issues regarding the bins

Over Christmas/New Year they'll have to extend EastEnders to a feature length special while Dot catalogues the full anniversary of woe

Ronnie's taunting the fates as well given how much bad luck she's previously had on New Year's Day. Is Jools Holland's Hootenanny that awful???
