I didn't know she gave up a son

Erm... wasn't there a storyline a few years ago about her being a virgin?

Those twins look really familiar and I can't place where I've seen them before?! It's going to drive me mad!

Twins?! I do not believe for a second Mary would have ever given up a son......this just sounds like another plot-driven storyline to introduce more 'eye candy'.

This was always going to be the problem with the Mary character. So much has been said or hinted at regarding her backstory, especially as throwaway lines and anecdotes that unless the writers have been meticulous in recording it all, the scope for contradictions and errors is huge. We've already had the problem with her Mother dying (or not). I know some of it can be dismissed as Mary elaborating or having fantasies, but some of it can not.

(Anyway, perhaps she gave birth to twins without realising there was a second one. It happens in EE! )

I am not sure about this. It's nice to see Mary getting a meaty storyline but she's not long out of a relationship that emphasised the fact that it was Mary's first time. No doubt if this fails, the twins will be axed, the storyline forgotten about and Mary will never mention them again...in true Corrie style.

I had high hopes for Kate Oates at Corrie, but it still all feels a bit Blackburn for my liking. The Platts being overused, that ridiculous stunt, Maria being accused of killing Caz when there simply is no evidence to suggest otherwise, she wasn't even missing 24 hours before the police got involved. Now Mary is being retconned??? This story better be good, it better have depth and it better not just last a week, then be completely forgotten about.

Totally agree - I like Mary's quirky character. As you mentioned - Platts again - I like them but every car stunt seems to be spent on them!

They are Matt and Sam Kennard. Matt is most well-known for playing nurse Archie Hallam in "doctors", and has starred in Waterloo Road, and other TV programmes (including small roles in Coronation Street and Emmerdale)
Sam has acted in Batman: Dark Knight Rises, and other roles.

Could they be her half brothers?

What happened to Mary's dad? could he have fathered more children by a different woman? Maybe he was living a double life and had two women on the go at the same time.

Yes Mary's mother definitely died. It was way back in April 2009 she was in the cabin with Norris and Rita when she received a phone call to say her mother was dead. She was later shown returning to the Rovers after the funeral dressed all in black. I think even Norris may have attended the funeral with her. All mentions of her mother after that were in the past tense, then randomly a couple of years ago she started talking about her mother as still being alive. The writers tried to cover this blatant continuity error by saying that Mary had lied about her mother being dead because they had fallen out. That definitely wasn't the case however.

I've always thought that one day one character would go on Mary's trailer and find her talking to her mother which would be a rotting corpse in a chair

Hmm given that this is the first we'e heard of this, and that it comes from the Daily Fail, I'm calling BS on the story. If they are related to Mary I reckon they are anything other than her offspring. Also, has there ever been any mention of Erica and her family? I know she mentioned her mother but could they actually be HER sons and Mary is just helping her search?

Also, who's the guy in the second pic with Michelle and Steve?!

I think the Daily Mail are making some assumptions here, and all will not be as it seems. I hope not anyway!!

Complete assumption on the Mail's part.

Re virgin and mother.

Mary once kept Norris prisoner at a cottage just like in the film Misery. She puts teenage kids to bed and reads them bedtime stories. When she was writing her memoirs she mentioned something about the time she was abducted by aliens. With Mary anything is possible.

What a load of old rubbish , Oates is at it again

I didnt think things could get any worse than under Blackburn , but whilst the drama was dreadful there was some humour , with Oates the drama will all be rubbish and the humour has gone , she ruined ED the same imo .

Agreed.

Mary is one of those traditional I hate to use the word but I have to spinster types with no experience sexually.

It's more retcon nonsense from Oates.

LOL I am loving the outrage at what is basically a total assumption by the god awful Daily Mail! Why not wait for at least something substantiated before we get ahead of ourselves and start slagging off the show and the producer?

Judging by the second picture with Michelle and Steve you could assume Ryan has been recast and brought back for Michelle but that's highly unlikely. Why would Steve and Michelle be on location with Mary?!

There's more likely a much more plausible explanation and I'm dying to hear it!!

It's classic Oates as anyone who's see her work would know
