Is anyone else using the Forums getting an irritating Apple App popup?
This only just started happening this morning on my iPad.
When I logged into DS forums, within minutes a popup appeard saying I have been selected for a free Apple App and click to download.
To get rid of it I reloaded page but the popup appeared again within minutes. In the top search bar it says 'midnightad.xyz' when popup is on screen. I've also used the back button to get rid of it which works momentarily then it's back.
My iPad does not let me download an Adblocker so wondering how I stop this happening? Any advice appreciated?

Yeah...I reported it to Digital Spy a few weeks ago. They said they'd had numerous complaints and will investigate.

I'd recommend installing Adblock Plus (it's free on the App Store).

Hi Doviak, I've tried the Adblock but my iPad won't let it download.

The ads were bad enough but now this irritating pop up that keeps making DS crash. Not sure DS is worth the hassle.
Is it the Russians?

In what way will it not let you download?

I've got it as well. I keep having to go back one screen and let the page reload. iPads are normally pretty good for keeping spam stuff at bay, but this one's persistent. And it's definitely a Digital Spy thing as it isn't happening with any other sites I go to.

It says my iPad is not compatible when I start the download.

Same with my iPad, Blue Eyes. Only happening in DS and only since today. Flipping nuisance. Why doesn't DS fix this?

The ads are provided by a third party (according to DS). So either the third party doesn't give a crap, or DS haven't raised it with them like they said they would.

Adguard would not download either. It said it was not compatible with my device.
I have an iPad2 which is probably classed as an 'antique' in today's technology. Will do a Google search to see if there are any ad blockers for 'old' iPads.

I had a look for older models and "Weblock" seems to be an option.

Failing that, you might have to use the Ghostery browser instead of Safari if you're running an iPad 2 as your version of iOS likely won't allow adblocking.

Press the alert button on your opening post and ask if the admin team are aware of the problem. A week or so ago there were several scroll bars popping up that people were complaining about i alerted the thread and the problem was fixed shortly after.

Advertisers don't give a damn these days when it comes to bombarding people's personal space. Junk mail through your letterbox, flyers thrust into your hand when you are out shopping, cold calling, blah, blah, blah.

Guess DS gets too much money from the advertisers so unlikely to help DS members with the Apple App popup issue.

Thanks for your advice Jason. I'll have a look at the link and Weblock.
My iPad2 is using iOS 9.3.5 which is the latest update sent to me.

Ditch the iShit and invest in some decent hardware.

You're right, DS / Hearst couldn't give a crap about the problems caused by the adverts and malware. If they were serious this would have been sorted almost 2 years ago when people started reporting problems leaving the site unusable to some without an ad blocker.

Last night my housemate wanted to check out people's opinions on a broadband deal and I suggested DS and he laughed and said it's utterly useless for him!

I've started to make a note of the names that appear in the search bar when the Apple App popup appears every minute!!!!!
So far I have had:

midnightad.xyz
adsfoundation.xyz
adnautic.xyz
destinyad.xyz

Yes I've just started getting this tonight on my iPad, I get directed to the Uber app on the App Store. It's so frustrating. I can't download Adblock either as i don't have the right version of ios9. I've tried googling what do do but those steps haven't solved it. Think I'll be steering clear of DS forums for a while!
