Just popped on to wish everyone a Happy New Year

Each week, in a normal week Emmerdale gets two more episodes than Eastenders and one more than Coronation Street. God knows, this week has proved that Emmerdale just doesn't have the material to stretch to a further episode. What would an extra one tonight achieve?. Lawrence and Ronnie cleaning up after the Rebecca/Chrissie NYE party?, more farce from Nicola and Jimmy?. Nothing that can't wait till tomorrow.

I've got a great one for Lisa and Zac. I closed the shop at 6 last night and ITV had wrestling on for the first time in 30 years, and it included women wrestlers. How about if, to make some honest money, L & Z become a husband and wife wrestling team?: Zac as "Giant Haystacks", or perhaps Lisa would best fit that role. Tney would travel the country, even the world in the course of their career and take Belle with them as their second, so we would rarely have to see them. The lovely dog could be fostered by Robron and we would never have to see that Steptoe yard of a house of Lisa's again!

Ha ha I can see them doing that, exactly! Also, based on her impressive slogging this week, Joanie could become a heavyweight boxing champion, so that's another sports audience catered for and another annoying character who would spend long periods away from the village.

I hope everyone here had a happy and safe New Year's Eve.

I am working my way home in stages after a NYE wedding (as a guest, not as a contracting party!) As is traditional, the Best Man's speech alluded to embarrassing episodes in the former life of the groom, and there were also some sly digs at the bride's extended family and her former relationships. My mind wandered at times onto what the Robron wedding will be like. It is going to be very awkward for whoever does the speeches on that occasion! There are so many really dodgy topics to avoid- and that's without their knowing about the things that only we viewers have seen (Robert's hitman for Chas, Robert's potato-pebble for Chas...).

I wonder how much of the wedding and reception will actually be on screen?

Just to let you all know, the Favourite ED character of the year on the DS Forums have begun. Robert won last year, with Aaron in 2nd & we want similar results this year (no matter which way round!). The link for Round 1, Heat 1 is below (featuring Victoria) with voting closing on Wednesday at 1pm. Keep checking whenever either our boys are mentioned (although they could be sly & put them both in the same heat). Make sure to pass the link around so as many as possible can vote for our boys. It'll be tough to get a similar result again; I think they'll be tough competition, especially from Ashley for me.
