Hello all ...

Well, it's back on the 8th November. We have twinkly eyed Marcus, the blonde bombshell Monica , and that Fruit & Veg man (aka "The Diner", or "man who likes things, and doesn't like things)

Looking forward to some "Head Chefs" (from kitchens of one)

Only one post before we get criticism of Gregg Wallace. A new record.

Unfortunately they can't sack Shrek - he and Torode own the format.

Shame - because he adds nothing to the show.

He adds some common sense to the programme, if left to the professional cooks there would be too much that normal people would not consider eating.

But he doesn't influence what they cook?

People who have an issue with him should consider the following:-

He has presented food programmes on both radio and tv.

He has owned his own restaurants.

He has written as a food critic for magazines.

He is there as a food critic and he is more than 'qualified' to do that.

Crikey ... I thought most people knew that there tends to be a love/hate Greg relationship on the thread. He does sometimes say the most ridiculous things, which do tend to set Marcus's eyes rolling ...plus all that bellowing of the time, can get very very irritating. The horrendous reviews for his restaurants had dented his credibility somewhat. Personally I don't think he's necessary to have in The Professionals version... but like a mad old uncle at Christmas, it wouldn't be the same

I've got a feeling it may be because they made it up.

It was devised by Franc Roddam, but seems Endemol now own the format.

Excuse me???

No I didn't make it up - Torode and Wallace bought out the format from the original creators, which is why we have been stuck with the pair of the for years and years , when you could reasonably expect at least one of them to have moved on.

And it was revealed on one of the Masterchef Australia episodes when the contestants did a show from the uk and had to cook for Toady and Shrek, - one of the Aussie presenters told the audience that they now owned the franchise.

So you must have a link to this information surely if it's common knowledge? Because I sure can't find one.

Because here is a link that say Endemol own it:-

I only usually watch it to see how the chefs manage the challenge that Monica sets them. Sometimes it's a really obscure part of food preparation, other times it's something one would think that even an inexperienced chef should be able to manage. There always seems to be at least one chef who mucks it up completely, whether it appears easy or not - they just go to pieces when under Monica's scrutiny!

Only found out this morning that this was back..excellent!
Shame is that the level seems to have improved in the last couple of series, so no embarrassments early on!

(I'm another Gregg adds nothing to the show and gets more annoying every year person)!

The only things Wallace brings to the table are an ability to scoff food and to shout out the time.
