Me too. Hope it's as good as the original.

Thanks. I'm excited and dreading it at the same time. I hope there's something edible at least. I don't do offal, snail or bacon trifle.

Well done Roseanna. For such a a young chef, it's a great achievement.
Can see him offering her a job

Missed the thread last night but I saw that Roseanna worked at Michelin starred place in Brum... Glyn Purnell's place?

Couple of us said that upthread. Could be Turners, Purnells, Adams or a number of others.

So after watching all but one of the heats, I have to ask what is the point of the skill test? Marcus and Monica seem to just criticise everyone, whilst Gregg joins in with the occasional cutting remark or dodgy pun.

It doesn't seem to get used in the judging for the heats, so what is it actually for?

Ah, so that's two young female junior sous-chefs working at Michelin-starred restaurants through.

Not at all surprising - it's got to be a better starting point than head-chef at your local pub and mass caterer in the RAF.

It'll be interesting to watch their progress. I'd imagine they'll do well.

I wondered that myself when one of the contestants had one of the best skills test ever on Masterchef but his signature dish was only average and yet the one that went through also had an average although slightly better signature dish but a disaster in the skills test.

The one thing I always find astonishing however is the poor knowledge and skill shown in the skills test some of which are very basic skills and understanding of preparation.

As long as there are 'textures of cauliflower', and nasturtium leaves for garnish, I'm happy.

I think it's more to get them used to being on the telly, get over their nerves and used to the mechanics of the situation, that kind of thing before having to do real cooking.

It lets us now which ones have the basic skills a trained chef should have which is all Monica and Marcus are really looking for at this stage.
