Why do they all have such shocking haircuts? Do they do it for themselves in the green room?

last night saw the last of the heats and to be honest were almost as bad as the worst bunch the week before. This got me thinking surely there should be some form of seeding before the TV stage begins and trying to ensure the weakest three are paired with the strongest three especially when we had one week when almost all six deserved to go through from one heat last week where I would have sent home all six.

We would still see the very best and worst examples of cooking not least the abysmal skills test of some of them.

I would not put it past the production company to deliberately want a bit of drama so have six good cooks in one heat then six rubbish cook in the other heat.

It's lovely Jay, Grace Dent and Tracey MacLeod tonight, so we are spared Sitwell for a while.

Anyone else had an email from Waitrose offering them money off a Bacon and Banana Trifle?

Maybe it isn't exactly going down a storm

I wonder if cheffing is the new mining?

They are all well hard with ludicrous haircuts and wall-to-wall tattoos and talk about doing whatever it takes.

No but that could be because I've never ordered anything from Waitrose

I don't know why anyone would want a bacon and banana trifle.

Yes I got an email offering 25% off Hestons Christmas treats. The Persian Christmas pudding sounds nice. Might get one.

Me, too. Was looking at it today but am afraid that I might have to eat it all myself () as the friends I am spending Xmas with have very traditional tastes!

Hello all

Deconstructed crumble with pears sous vide, soil and foam.

And some smears and dots of pickled guava.

It's gone brassy. She needs a silver rinse.

And to shave it all off.
