5 thoughts on tonight:
1. Poor Gary, it looked awesome. How much beetroot did they bloody want? Would the goats cheese and the oatmeal ring sitting in a pool of beetroot have been enough?! 'Under-seasoning' crops up again which moves me swiftly onto.....
2. ......Ellie, one comment from M&M about how she had to make sure her seasoning was right, and then cue her asking Matt to taste it to check. I didn't think her dish looked as nice as Gary's or Matt's either. Still, the win is going to come down to her and.......
3. ......Matt. He seemed to be everywhere tonight (was he around to help Arnaud as well? If so then he has actually done all 4 services as well as Gary) and the reaction of the chefs seemed to indicate that he was their favourite. I'd quite like to see him win actually (if Gary can't do it) - much as I think Ellie has been great, it would be nice to see someone win that isn't in the 'service' part of the industry.
4. Arnaud will probably be the one to face the guillotine - I don't understand what happened with the créme brulées though? It looked like most of them were set properly then just a few weren't, whereas you would have thought it would be one entire batch that were still soft. Hmmmm.......
5. It was quite amusing ticking off all of the chefs who had been on Great British Menu at some point (Sat Bains, Daniel Clifford, Phil Howard, Paul Ainsworth, Simon Rogen, our Adam.....)
As for tomorrow; the preview at the end of tonight's ep seemed to indicate that there's a round in the kitchen first where one of them is eliminated, and then they head off to (Norway?) to go to a restaurant that seemed to be called Maemo. Gregg, Marcus and Monica all go too.
