We were in Vancouver recently, the standard battered fish served as fish and chips is Halibut
In Scotland you get haddock as the default fish in batter. I like both cod and haddock. (Think I read that cod is now no longer endangered.)

Cooking is like acting or writing or music, it's a creative calling. If someone at the top of the profession publically praises your efforts above those of your peers, yes, it's emotional.
