Loads of Samsung users hate TouchWiz, and it has changed loads since your examples. It really isn't a fair comparison and I bet all the other phones added up outnumber Samsung sales as a whole too.

I don't use Samsung phones because I hated TouchWiz, although I'll acknowledge it has improved on the S7 and then the Note 7. It no longer slows things to a crawl for one.

It's Marshmallow 6.01 so is still current (and even more advanced than probably at least 50% of Android phones in use), and I can't remember the settings pages being any different on the S7 I was using about 2 weeks ago,

But at the risk of sounding like a stuck record, it's STILL Android, last years version doesn't suddenly become Tizen or Symbian, you're trying to excuse it by again pointing to 5% and saying "but this is Android, nothing else counts".

It also circuits back to the old argument of fragmentation and lack of core UI control that Google should be enforcing.

Yes, it isn't ideal but lets not forget it makes it slightly easier to use any music file you like for a ringtone instead of the daft way you have to do it with apple. Both have their issues.

You arent the only ones with expensive cans, i use the HD800's, a pair of Bose QC35's and a pair of B&W P7's and noticed no difference in sound quality there between the native player and VLC.

I have plenty logic behind it. The one thing i don't have is a chosen OS. If iOS tomorrow offered me something better, i would use it. Right now, it doesn't. No, but you can change it like i said to list order so it's not like that. So then it becomes like the stock version of Android (which is the normal way) and the way iOS does it as well.

Well done, I wonder why none of the resident Android experts (that I deal with at work and irl) have never mentioned it (and one even had his new phone in the same huge balls-up as my screenshots ).

I have found the sub menu hidden behind the 3 dots to change that, so you've done your good deed for the day .

Of course both are good, but i don't think one is easier than the other. The way you have the setting on your Android phone is weird and to be honest that would drive me insane. Just change it to list mode i think its called.

Many phones, probably adding up to more than the number of TouchWiz phones, look like that.

The underlying OS doesn't matter when you're simply trying to change things. Despite each running on Symbian, Series 60 and UIQ were a world apart, for example.

The way it was is the default, I've chosen Tab view, much easier with a shortish list and left/right swipes to each sub section. Much more logical and easy to navigate.

I genuinely don't recognise the Android you describe at all. I have a settings icon on my home screen just like iOS. I press it and there are settings - again just like iOS. From there I select what I want in easy to use intuitive icons. iOS isn't all plain sailing in settings either as you suggest. There are plenty of sub-menus to go through.

Another issue with iOS, iTunes and Apple Music. That can be a right dogs dinner. I don't keep any music on my S7 it's all on Play Music and work flawlessly - what's not to like?

I think this is more about 'user fail' than anything else. I think many in the industry will tell you that currently Android is the more innovative OS.

I hated TouchWiz when I had a GS2 and stayed away from Samsung for a while because of that one issue. However, given I had the opportunity to purchase a virtually brand new S7 for silly money I bought it. I haven't been disappointed either. TouchWiz has a much lighter touch (pardon the pun) than it used to have. I now find it quite enjoyable.

When I buy a pair of shoes the laces are often threaded through just a couple of eyelets then tied. However, that is not the way I use them. When I buy or build a computer I spend a little time personalising it, same with a phone. Do you not do similar?

It looks like TouchWiz and I have TouchWiz with Marshmallow 6.0.1 and believe me when I tell you mine looks nothing like that - it's all in a vertical LIST.
