There are obviously lots of different UI customisations on Android, so there's not even one clear way of doing things. Some like native Android. Some like TouchWiz, some like EMUI.
It makes it even harder to compare iOS to Android as you'd be doing it on a handset by handset basis. |

Those screenshots are of TouchWiz, which is not really like normal Android - although you can change the layout to a list form can't you?
A better comparison would be a Nexus or Pixel phone. Quote:
It just isn't worth the effort when this is the level of reply
Or why not take a few minutes to let the question sink in, perhaps with some help and then attempt an answer? |

No don't think I shall bother, every response you post here is just deflection or selective misdirection. Life too short to get bogged down with such devoted fanboy logic.

Why can't you answer the question? It was a simple one... |

Loads of Samsung users hate TouchWiz, and it has changed loads since your examples. It really isn't a fair comparison and I bet all the other phones added up outnumber Samsung sales as a whole too.
I don't use Samsung phones because I hated TouchWiz, although I'll acknowledge it has improved on the S7 and then the Note 7. It no longer slows things to a crawl for one. |

regardless of what some select few manufacturers have done with some select models, unless apple are to bring the 3.5 jack back (unlikely, I think agreed?) it has now been removed from their entire range. A pedantic debate over existing handsets already built, as an example of how it hasn't been removed, is exactly where fanboys wish to direct debate until it is stifled. |

But at the risk of sounding like a stuck record, it's STILL Android, last years version doesn't suddenly become Tizen or Symbian, you're trying to excuse it by again pointing to 5% and saying "but this is Android, nothing else counts". It also circuits back to the old argument of fragmentation and lack of core UI control that Google should be enforcing. |

As I said life too short for the level of pedantry you require to be injected into every conversation, simply to misdirect and bore people into submission.

Come back and tell everyone what the current range of Apple products on sale is once you've done that. Quote:

You are rather argumentative and aggressive for a very new user, are you the reiteration of someone who was also very argumentative and aggressive that was banned?

I see more pedantic reasoning in a mobile phone thread, dear me.
And it seems the last level of deflection is now personal insults, you certainly are one to avoid. |

This is what is encountered after navigating to settings, scrolling from top to bottom takes 7 screenshots
https://s19.postimg.org/sjury8kib/IMG_5076.png https://s19.postimg.org/44mjx6llf/IMG_5077.png https://s19.postimg.org/psbi7mlzn/IMG_5078.png https://s19.postimg.org/akvin9u4z/IMG_5079.png https://s19.postimg.org/jtxoxe30z/IMG_5080.png https://s19.postimg.org/wzhsh8mab/IMG_5086.png https://s19.postimg.org/p812ioi4z/IMG_5087.png And, of course, every sub icon has another sub menu, I don't have the time or will to screenshot each sub menu to show you... (PS: They might not be in order, it was a job and a half just getting the screenshots off the phone and to the image uploader, so no complaints if the order is wrong). Also even the iphone/ipad has sub menus. Not sure why you are singling Android out for this! Quote:
Just can't help the snarky, childish comments, can you? Snarky comments? But yes, it was just me. and the staff in the Three Store and the staff in an EE shop and staff in a Samsung service centre and 4 or 5 other Android users in the office. Just me, as you say... People showed you screenshots and told you they didn't experience that same thing. Quote:
So you didn't really read that I've used every player recommended, including paid for apps? They all work, but with more work required to setup and with poorer sound quality to my ears when compared to the iPhone with the same headphones ranging from EarPods through a set of B&Os and all the way up to a set of Sennheiser HD800's .
Every player recommended yeah? I just tried VLC there and i can choose the folders to exclude. Whats the issue here? Yes, it isn't ideal but lets not forget it makes it slightly easier to use any music file you like for a ringtone instead of the daft way you have to do it with apple. Both have their issues. You arent the only ones with expensive cans, i use the HD800's, a pair of Bose QC35's and a pair of B&W P7's and noticed no difference in sound quality there between the native player and VLC. Quote:
I suppose that's what happens when you just want to rabidly defend your chosen OS like a real boi no matter the logic behind it I have plenty logic behind it. The one thing i don't have is a chosen OS. If iOS tomorrow offered me something better, i would use it. Right now, it doesn't. I use (to many apple nuts horror) windows 10 on my mac for many things. I use OS Sierra for when i cant be arsed booting into windows. I also use Linux. .
Quote:
iTunes is crap, but a lot better than it was, I use it as little as possible...
I'll agree there. I havent even opened it once on my macbook.Quote:
True, so why do you feel the need to continually denigrate the one you didn't choose then? Rampant fanboi-ism?
Except i'm not. Just because i (using both) disagree with some of the things you are saying, does not mean i am a fanboy.I don't do brand loyalty and never have. I think my mix of Apple devices and Android devices shows this. Even household things i don't do brand loyalty. I have Sony, samsung, LG etc. Nothing is the same! Quote:
I don't remember, could have been a chore at one stage, how long ago are you talking?
Before the notification center. So not that long ago.

Personal insults? Where? I was just clarifying if you could possibly be a new username for an old user who posted in a remarkably similar way.
PS Have you checked if the entire Apple range really is now headphone jack free? I wonder if you have to be an old user then to end up so annoying. You clearly would be better off in a MAc thread where there is no disagreement for you.To clarify a mobile phone thread all references should be considered in that vein, although this is proving difficult for you I see. I will leave you to your pedantry anyway have fun. |

It's Android, Jon, you can't really pick and choose, not to mention it's actually the predominant version of Android, you can't say let's take this niche version of 5% and pretend it's the way all Android phones work and ignore the 95% which are sold with a skin.

Stiggles, you've borked the multiposts, so it's pretty hard to work out what's what in your reply.
Are we closer to agreeing both systems are good and personal preference makes one seem better? PS Just noticed, you mentioned stock player and VLC, I agree both sounded similar on Android, my comparison was between iOS music player and the others, I did say it was only my ears opinion though and YMMV.... |

No, but you can change it like i said to list order so it's not like that. So then it becomes like the stock version of Android (which is the normal way) and the way iOS does it as well.
).I have found the sub menu hidden behind the 3 dots to change that, so you've done your good deed for the day .That does look better... |

The way you have the setting on your Android phone is weird and to be honest that would drive me insane. Just change it to list mode i think its called. |

Well done, I wonder why none of the resident Android experts have never mentioned it (and one even had his new phone in the same huge balls-up as my screenshots

This is the settings menu on Emotion UI:
https://goo.gl/photos/64TrAbp9WSqkhjwk6 Seems pretty easy to navigate to me, and not far off native Android: https://goo.gl/photos/Gni8F25pyeZsQDbFA Many phones, probably adding up to more than the number of TouchWiz phones, look like that. The underlying OS doesn't matter when you're simply trying to change things. Despite each running on Symbian, Series 60 and UIQ were a world apart, for example. |

A couple of examples that spring immediately to mind, settings, if I want to change a setting it's as simple as tap settings scroll to what I want, in Android it's slide down from the top to get settings and then search through a myriad of icons which seem to have little relevance as to why they are grouped together to find the icon inside the settings menu to open that sub-menu of the settings to then hopefully find the setting I want.
Sometimes a setting just doesn't exist (or hours of searching doesn't find it), I remember asking about a setting on this forum for a notification setting to stop one of the google apps from making a noise when notifying, which ended up impossible to find and the only solution was to turn all notifications off for the app. Another one is Music, it's a dogs dinner on Android, add music and go to play it and without having to mess about setting what folders to use it ends up playing ring tones and notification sounds as well as music in the player. There's plenty of other niggles that annoy me at least weekly, the iPhone just works and needs far less interaction to work as I want it to, my Android phone feels like the naughty ADHD kid that always needs special attention to keep it as I expect it to behave. Another issue with iOS, iTunes and Apple Music. That can be a right dogs dinner. I don't keep any music on my S7 it's all on Play Music and work flawlessly - what's not to like? I think this is more about 'user fail' than anything else. I think many in the industry will tell you that currently Android is the more innovative OS. |

I have looked at your many screen shots. What the hell is that? Why all those pages of icons, mine is in a readily readable list. You make life difficult for 'yourself' and then complain it's the product?

Why not go back and read all of last nights posts for all the detail? |

The Music app on iOS 10 is a pile of dog shit. Very bad comparison.

It would help if you read all the new posts in a thread before commenting.

It looks like TouchWiz and I have TouchWiz with Marshmallow 6.0.1 and believe me when I tell you mine looks nothing like that - it's all in a vertical LIST. |
