Better. She's not adding much, having the good sense to leave it to the real critics, but neither is she squeeing all over every film, peering from underneath her fringe either.

No need to go back to the live format though - Who cares what a bunch of sleepy/drunk Tweets have to say about musicals?

Bizarre choice for Affleck to play a Bourne rip-off. Poor choice of movies to launch with.

Will they close with the new Wonder Woman trail?

It's the BBC mind set. Now they just need a "name," to host it.
How often does Zoe Ball go to the cinema?

There was only one Barry Norman.

The show does feel a lot different because because Claudia and Danny used to bounce off each other. So hopefully Zoe and Danny will have the same chemistry

Two tweets they read out - That's the while justification for it being live. Weird.

Someone else next week. Was sure I read she was doing seven shows.

If the rumours about Zoe Ball and her toyboys are true then she may go to the cinema more than you think. (She might not see too much of the film though )

Does she get them in for half price?

The BBC executive adolescents are scared that we might not watch a programme if we don't already know the presenter.
Think of how many entertaining characters there must be out there in the world of film, media and academia who could really add to our appreciation of cinema.
We'll soon get to know them.

Hmm.. Zoe Ball who'll be 46 this month, in the back row of a cinema with a boyfriend?

How fifties!

Hard to imagine.

"You'd need to prove your mum is in receipt of Family Allowance for you."

dont they already have a film guru type film critic who is much respected on the bbc ?

a certain mark kermode, or is he too heavyweight and verbose for mainstream telly, he talks about stuff like sub-text, allegories, metaphors, and likes old movies from the [ gasp ] 1970s and movies that arent based on comic book heroes and vido games ?

however, i do have a thang for zoe, she is a sexy adult lady person of a female persuasion.

There are undiscovered tribes in the Amazon basin that know Kermode doesn't want the gig.

I am sure that Mark Kermode, brilliant a critic as he is, ruled himself out of the job after Ross left.

See this piece in the Telegraph:

But he told Radio 5 Live listeners on Thursday: "I'm not doing Film 2010. I've never been doing Film 2010.

"They've never approached me, they've never asked me about it, nor indeed would they – not that I ever expected them to."

Kermode said he did not think his uncompromising views and forthright opinions squared with the show which he said "requires a mainstream sensibility".

"I don't do moderation," joked the presenter, who co-hosts 5 Live's Friday afternoon movie show with Simon Mayo.

"I don't know what plans they have for it, whatever they are I'm sure they will be, you know, wonderful and successful, I promise you I am nothing to do with it. Please, bookies, stop giving odds on me."

Haven't watched it yet so can't pass judgement on Zoe though love her on It Takes Two.

Ben Bailey Smith (Doc Brown) is the guest presenter next week, really like him.

I liked it. Danny and Ellen were great and Ball just kept things ticking along.

Then again, I didn't have much of a problem with Winkleman.

I'd prefer a permanent host though. Doc Brown sometimes fills in for Simon Mayo on the 5Live show.

I think he just got fed up with them moving the programme around the schedules, he wasn't the only one!

Zoe Ball also stands in for Mayo as well.

Sounds like they're going through all the stand-ins from the Kermode & Mayo Film Show on 5 Live. If that pattern continues we'll have Edith Bowman, Sanjeev Bhaskar and David Morrissey the weeks after

In fairness, I always thought that David Morrissey and Edith were excellent when filling in. So they'd be a good addition for Film...

Zoe Ball annoys me- overated and talks about herself far too much - only where she is because of her Father.
