Zoe Ball annoys me- overated and talks about herself far too much - only where she is because of her Father.
Because her dad was good at maths?

The only maths you need is to recognise that when attempting to get a job in television, is that "pull" counts for a lot more than "push."

Well as someone who began watching Film.... with Claudia mainly because of her, I do definitely miss her but I thought Zoe was more than good enough for the role.

She seemed a bit more in depth with her questioning than Claud but then again she and Danny had that repartee which Zoe obviously didn't. That would come with more episodes to host though of course.

I sort of know of Ben Bailey Smith but don't know of him as a presenter, so we'll see how next week goes.

But if Zoe was handed the role permanently, I wouldn't complain.

Going by the heading the show is using on their official Twitter page, other hosts this series will include; Camilla Long, Paul Merton, Edith Bowman and Antonia Quirke.

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that when Zoe Ball took a sabbatical from/couldn't get any work in tv presenting she did a film production course at a college in Brighton.

....have done some digging and found on IMDB that she produced three short films during 2005-2009. Maybe that enhanced her credentials?!

I'm not great fan, but the last good presenter of Film was Jonathan Ross.

Why doesn't Mark Kermode get the gig? Or Danny? Though I do see that Danny is a great foil to the presenter and it may miss that if he presented it himself.

Ben Bailey Smith was great. He's so relaxed. Grace Dent on the other hand........ She's just a rent a gob for everything from food to movies these days.

She's had a pretty successful TV and radio career for someone who's every third word is 'um'.

Thought Doc Brown was good.

Hope Danny Leigh isn't going down the Kermode route of subtly putting his political opinion into his reviews though; "especially on this weekend, you should see this movie... I want to knock on everyone's door and tell them to see this movie".

We get it, Danny.

Dominic Sandbrook, Matthew Sweet or Mark Gatiss would also make good hosts. They're all connoisseurs of film and popular culture as evident in their various documentary programmes on cinematic history and films.

As Kermode says they're not looking for another critic, they're looking for someone who fulfills the Mayo role of being the man-in-the-street rather than someone who cares about the aspect ratio the film is shot-in

And I guess that's right. I pretty much answered my own question really - should've thought that through a bit more.

Yes Mark said after Jonathan Ross had announced his departure, that he didn't want the job and he said that again when Claudia left.

I'm glad i had seen 'The Arrival' last week on Odeon's unscene promotion as I felt there was some things discussed or shown that would have spoiled the mystery and enjoyment of such a good film.

Saying he does'nt want a job that he has never even been offered.

I haven't seen it yet (the film), but I agree.

They show way too much of the film in the interview sections. I had to mute untill the reviews started.

Ben Bailey Smith was great.
Yep, really good.
Best for me so far though - Camilla Long.
Referring to a scene in Allied with Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard "Didn't you think the fact she sort of clambered over him whilst trying to remove her '40s underwear made her look like a fat tourist trying to sit on a camel's face."
