People are doubting marias innocence and it was the same when tyrone was accused of of hitting kirsty, im sure theres others incidents were characters believe the worst of a nice character

The worst in this one is Kate!! She utterly despises Caz and was more or less wishing her gone in any way possible last week! She talks to Caz like shit yet acts like she's terrified of her.

She's been going round for weeks saying what a twisted manipulator Caz is, yet is now acting like the grieving widow?!

It's a always the way on Corrie. The same with Tyrone when he was accused of hitting his wife, Fiz when she was accused of killing Colin Fishwick, Gail etc
It's become too predictable, the residents of the street always side with the villain, even if they knew the victim for decades.

I'd hate to live on Coronation Street, I'd be surrounded by so many morons

Yes, this is ridiculous. Kate's reaction, Maria's friends' reaction, the marriage...

The whole thing is ridiculous TBH and any plod worth their salt should be able to see through Maria's sham marriage in two minutes. As if a backstreet hairdresser is going to split their time between Weatherfield and a husband in London whilst maintaining two residences. We already know that hubby is potless, so there's no way she'd ever be able to show that her finances can cover it all and that's before you consider how she fits her son into it all. She really should be looking a whatever the maximum penalties are for fraud but I bet Corrie brushes most of it under the carpet.

Even worse, they side with villains who they've only known for 5 minutes and who seem like ********s anyway over people who they know don't have a bad bone in their body

The scriptwriters should get the Wooden Spoon award for that little gem - what a load of tripe. And yes, it is happening far too often in Corrie, making the storyline predictable, inane, and unbelievable.

At least they are making some effort to show the consequences of Maria's moment of complete madness!!
Hopefully once it is established, as it surely will be eventually, that she is completely innocent of any wrongdoing in the Caz affair they will take her previously good character into account, see the whole marriage thing for what it was, a kind but very misguided attempt to help somebody & will be more lenient in their sentencing over the illegal marriage!! Prisons are full enough of real criminals without shoving the Marias of this
world into them!!

In the meantime I shall look forward to all the twists & turns of this storyline that lead to that decision!!

Because the writers lack imagination.

I agree, it's completely ridiculous but I feel that in this storyline it's been done to push Aiden and Maria together as he and Eva are supporting her. Caz and Fiz having their suspicions effectively rules them out of comforting her so alongside Audrey and Kirk, Aiden is doing his knight in shining armour bit. This wouldn't be so effective if everyone was on her side.

It is very frustrating though, Fiz is already a nightmare and now Kate is just a massive pain. I wish she'd left with Sophie!

Conversely, my finger will be firmly pressed on the FF button for the duration of this woeful storyline.

Is your finger ever off the FF button where Corrie is concerned though??
I don't think I've ever read one single positive comment from your finger yet!!

LOL, do people ACTUALLY fast forward scenes?! I couldn't be bothered with the hassle tbh. I utterly detest Fiz and her voice goes through me but for some reason I don't feel the need to FF her scenes. I watch the show as a whole, not just selected scenes.

Just what I was goin to say. At regular intervals, when they are stuck for a plot, the script writers accuse a respected resident of the street of a crime, all the other residents turn against them, and when they are exonerated, nobody apologises.
