The best couple I've seen on Emmerdale is Ross/Donna

I will agree with you on that. They should have never killed her off, or if they had to leave her death open ended so she could come back one day.

I don't they expected the pairing to become so popular, had they foreseen it I don't think they would of made it a permanent exit.

They should have changed the story, that is what the US soaps do when they realize two characters have chemistry, I believe that is what happened with Luke and Laura on General Hospital and why they glossed over Luke raping Laura as a "seduction"

They could have had it turn out Donna was missed diagnosed and instead of her falling on to a car in a parking lot she could have fallen into a river and her body was never found, that way at some point we could have had Donna come back.

Totally disagree. It was a brilliant storyline

Her exit was brilliant though, her last words were telling Ross that she loved him. They will struggle to find a better pairing for Ross.

It was a great story but I wish it had ended different, I loved Ross and Donna

I was fuming when Ross/Donna lost out to Tim/Sally at the soap awards for best pairing. Tim and Sally are a good comedy duo but Ross/Donna should of walked that award.

I agree, Ross and Donna had the type of chemistry that reminds me of the old school super couples on the US soaps like Luke and Laura on GH and Bo and Hope on Days of Our Lives.

I remember when I first read about them getting together, and I thought it would be rubbish. Donna was always a bore to me, and I couldn't imagine Ross having feeling for anyone, but they both brought out another side of each other, it was great.

I completely agree and Donna was probably boring before because she was with Marlon

Moira. The actress is great, and a chemistry magnet.
Moira is also one of the few characters who has to answer for her mishaps and mistakes, usually double fold, and gets humiliated in front of the whole town. She still holds her gead high and doesn't hide away.

Got to be ma boy Cain. Very good actor, playing a complicated and interesting character. He can say more with one slight change of expression in his eyes than could be done with pages of script. Natalie Robb comes a good second!

Only 1 Actually thinking about this has made me realise that I actually like quite a few. I guess I'll have to go with Robert if it has to be only 1 but if we're allowed top 5 then I'd go for Robert, Ross, Emma, Moira and Cain. I've come round to Cain again recently after him dumping Charity and coming home to Moira

Doug.
Just because I adore Duncan Preston and I'm always expecting him to tell everyone he's "just going to inspect the ladies' facilities" in the Woolpack.

A vote for Doug, hurray!

It's just really hard to pick one, because ED has a great ensemble cast.

I guess if pushed, I'd say Cain, because he's got a properly messed-up dark history, but his character's also developed really interestingly.

Ross comes a very close second, I honestly think Michael Parr is great - I can't take my eyes off him when he's on screen, he's really electric, and has been particularly good recently.

I also love Bernice, because she's so funny but also very human and vulnerable. And Moira has been fantastic the last few months, she's shot up my list of favourites. Also Emma, who surely can't be around much longer, but I'm loving it while she's here, she's brilliantly unstable and chaotic.

That's nowhere near just one, is it.

So going by this thread I think Ross, Robert, Cain, Moira and Emma take it.

They are ones that are onscreen the most, I think it really shows when they're not though the eps tend to drag.

Cain but mostly due to his older stuff. They have made him too soft these days.

I don't mind Cain but the rest can all take a long hike off a short pier.
My favourite character is Jimmy.
