Ted Reilly (Johnny in EE)
His acting was so bad tonight he was acted off the screen by Danny Boy Hatchard.

Sadly Ted Riley is not cutting it as Johnny but it is Danny-Boy Hatchard who is being axed.

#BringBackMYJohnny!
Ted is just awful. They need to do the Sam Mitchell treatment pronto! It is a shame Danny is going. He is doing quite well. I find Lee being believable in his situation. |

He was truly dire tonight
it's one thing to be wooden but then to be more wooden than Lee it was really bad.

It's the characterisation of Johnny that I am finding hard to deal with.
my god he is worse than Ian when he is being a snivelling weasel. Johnny has turned into a horrid snivelling goody two shoes. Actually that doesn't even cover it there are no words |

He's so terrible it's embarrassing to watch him attempt to act. The guy who plays Lee is bloody Al Pachino compared to Ted! That is rather worrying.

He's so bad I wouldn't mind if he joined Linda in having some time off. Maybe he could go on an 'annoying know it all trainee lawyers who spend their days dispensing their unwanted pearls of wisdom to all and sundry' convention and never return.

The character is just boring. No idea how old he's supposed to be, but he acts like he's an old man. He should keep his beak out of Lee's business and get himself a life.

I'm obviously a big fan of him but even I'd struggle to defend him after tonight's episode. The writing for him was appalling and it was back to square one in terms of acting, after the progress Ted has made since he started. They really need to give the character some purpose of his own rather than just having him on the sidelines, giving out advice when it isn't wanted.
And now I feel bad for saying horrible things about Johnny.

Wooden actor. Boring, judgmental character.
They axed the wrong Carter brother. |

Don't want to be nasty for the sake of it, but Ted Reilly is bloody awful.
Probably (if not definately) one the worst actors in the shows 30-year-history. Even the likes of Tony Discipline and Matt Lapinskas had something about them. They're getting rid of the wrong brother. Ted should be joining Maddy Hill on the scrap heap. |

If they so badly wanted to recast him, they should have not rushed into it. Find the best actor and make sure you have plans for him. It's not just Ted that is awful so is the writing, I would say get rid as well.

With all I've just said, I do find the whole "they've axed the wrong brother" argument a bit ridiculous considering how absolutely slated Danny-Boy Hatchard has been in the past on here. Perhaps it's best just to give new-ish actors a chance to prove themselves before calling for the axe?

They axed the wrong Carter brother. I've yet to see any improvement from Nu Johnny. He remains an irritating spare part. |

He's got such a boring voice. He's someone I just don't take any notice of.

In fairness, wasn't Johnny a vanity project of DTC? I thought I read that the character was based off himself.
Which probably shows why not only is the actor terrible, but the character is pretty pointless anyway. He's cocky and unlikeable. |

Unfortunately I just cannot warm to this new Johnny. Sam Strike instantly made an impact in the role, but more than six months on Ted Reilly is still very wooden and the character feels like a spare part. If either Carter brother *had* to be axed, I'd much rather see more of Lee than I would Johnny. |

It's a shame they did jack shit with the original Johnny, as he was a good actor and if he was given something he would have been able to handle it. Now we are stuck with a crap actor and crap writing, the writers just like with the original Johnny don't seem to care to flesh Johnny out.

Sam Strike was Johnny and made the role his own.
Ted Riley pales in comparison |

I've been thinking about this recently. I want to like Johnny, but I just can't, and I'm not sure if it's Ted Reilly or not.
I can't reconcile Ted Reilly's Johnny with Sam Strike's Johnny - they are two entirely different characters. SSJohnny was a bit of a wallflower, and he also seemed to have a sense of humour. This Johnny is lacking in humour, and seems quite arrogant. It's like two different characters. A large part of that is down to the writing - the character may be saved and it may turn out Ted Reilly is a competent actor, but the character is SO different to what he was, it's hard to judge. |
