John middleton is superb in his portayal. Award winning, really- he deserves a Soap award for it

John Middleton after next year will never get a chance to win best actor so he has to be nominated for best actor and win next year.

Having had a father-in-law with vascular dementia I agree that his portrayal is splendid, particularly in the moments when he actually seems "normal". Brilliant acting as it Laurel's very annoying insistance that she will cope - my mother-in-law was like that until a year or so before he became too hard to handle and she was poorly herself.
