Changes needed:
1. Revert to job on offer, not investment. 2. Improve pre-selection process to take out numpties. 3. Revert to 12 candidates maximum. 4. Remove pointless and redundant 'treats'. 5. Sack Misery Brady. |

I agree. All the candidates are poor and unlikeable.

Personally i'd do the following....
1. Have it smaller groups perhaps 3-4 people. 2. Tighter tasks to show what they can do. 3. Smaller prize but aim it at those who need lets say a 20k injection into their business. Perhaps 2-3 runs a year to keep it interesting and not forgotten. 4. Someone like Claude to review the plans of each person and let him go to town to keep the drama. |

Have just caught up with yesterday's show and yes, it's official. This has to be the poorest group of candidates ever. Nearly every one apart from maybe Courtney, has an instance of horrible incompetence and some like Screwface Trish, Naggy Grannie, Pouting Paul, and one-track Sofiane are downright unlikeable.
Of those left, in terms of likeability, I think I could only have a drink with Jess, Alana and maybe Dylan - but I wouldn't trust any of them to hold a pot while I pee into it. I don't think wholesale changes are needed - it was really good to see Carthick shine at the pitch for instance - just better vetting of candidates, not people that the producers think will make good TV. Let the drama evolve naturally. |

I don't buy into the candidates being the worst ever as there has been some massive blunder episodes early into the Apprentice as well as all the way through the series i.e Series 2 had a lot of mess ups with questionable candidates, especially the restaurant fiasco where they made a massive loss and Series 3 also. I do admit that this series had the worst ever marketing task however. It annoys me that every year the newspapers jump on it getting worse in terms of business skills, I do however think that this series is quite boring as the candidates aren't very interesting. I don't think it will be back after this series personally; I think another business related program will take its place.

Only the first season of the USA season was good (and even then you had the likes of Omarosa and pottymouth Heidi and mental Kirsty). After that you had a mad bedazzler woman, a candy stripper and a woman who actually flirten with Trump in the boardroom (and got fired for it!). Oh, and a guy who waived is immunity and got promptly fired.
Trust me, as someone who does not have English as a first language (non-biased), the British version is miles better. Yes, this series is somewhat dull at the moment, but I suspect that quite a few of you (amongst them the OP) have never seen series 4. |

I'm actually wishing Richard, Vana, Joseph and Charlene were back!
Last night's episode was terrible. Both teams were terrible. JD just sat back and did nothing, Samuel was deluded, Rebecca can't do a simple video on an iPad, Sofiane just won't listen, Paul is moody. I do like Fran though, she's front runner for me. I like her best from the girls too, and Alana who seems "the normal one"I loved the silly "SMASHED IT" from Frances on the couch

I've watched a few USA versions and the show is slicker smarter than the UK version also the candidates were far more professional.
It always struck me how much grander the tasks seemed to be in America. Design a new bottle for Pepsi for example, compared to the UK version where it was flog this tat down the market. |

Lord Sugar doesn't have any 'rights' to the series, does he?
To me, the way to save it is to have a new boss- someone like Peter Jones, or Theo Paphitis (hopefully not Branson) We always know how Sugar is going to react in any situation- so it's getting old hat. And what Sugar looks for in an Apprentice might not be what someone else would look for. If the contestants don't know by now what Sugar does, and doesn't like, they never will. Someone new- and strong enough to tell the producers 'I want 18 genuine candidates, not 18 bulls****ers' or I'm not doing it, might give it the new life it needs. |

I started stopping enjoying the show when it changed from hiring an employee to taking on a business partner

I have only watched a few episodes here and there of the US version, and what seemed to stand out to me was the quality of the contestant. They were more professional, cut throat, and therefore took it more seriously than people like what's her face - the goofy "wacky" one with dark hair.

Glad I found this thread because now I know its not just me who isn't enjoying it at all.
Its humourless, the candidates are cardboard cutouts and the tasks are same old, same old. Its possible I'm going to give up on it now and I doubt I will miss anything of any consequence. Its tedious and repetitive. *yawn* |

I prefer it to last year. It's nothing we haven't seen before, but the format's still highly watchable for me.

The Apprentice has ran out of ideas. There are only so many times you can pull off a show like this and make it work.
The fact that the candidates are now chosen because they're so deluded and up their own backsides is testament to how badly this show has collapsed. The show should've finished when Nick left. It's been a completely different show ever since, and not for any good reasons either. he lent a certain class and wit that's been woefully missing since |

Maybe it would help if the producers would show the candidates as themselves rather than trying to make them into copies of previously popular (and some not so popular) candidates?
EG: Courtney= James Hill Jessica= Luisa Karthik= Felipe (s10) Natalie= Lindsay (s10) Paul + Sofianne = Mark + Daniel (S10) |

Karthik is nothing like Felipe. Felipe is more...modest.
Paul is more useless than Mark IMO. Jessica is like a toned down version of Luisa. Courtney is much quiet than I thought so I don't see James in him |

Correct but there clearly the avenues the producers are trying and badly failing to push the edit down.

I agree with you on the producers' attempt to recreate another talking point like Luisa and James (and possibly Selina but I guess they realised one Selina was good enough) for the sake of ratings and popularity instead of paying attention to the quality of candidates. |

It's not that good is it?
It's okay, it's watchable, and reasonably enjoyable if you usually watch the series, but I honestly don't find it as engaging as previous series have been. I don't know if it's because I myself have become jaded and everything is just so obviously a cliche that's been done before that I now feel viewer fatigue, or if the show itself is any different to the usual standard of quality? Maybe it's both. Maybe it's just become too complacent and we are now so over-familiar with the show that we are now in a period of diminishing returns. The tasks feel so pedestrian because they feel like they've been done to death. I often simply zone out from boredom, and the contestants don't seem to stand out like some of the characters from earlier series. And just adding more contestants every year doesn't make the show better. It's not a case of having lots of contestants who you can barely remember adds any value to the programme. I'm still watching it. It's okay I suppose. As they say in the general TV forum with dull programmes, "It's harmless" . Which is what you usually say to defend a programme when you don't really have much to say about its actual merits.I suspect that I've just become too familiar with it and I don't feel a freshness about it anymore. But one thing I'm sure about is that I'm not finding as much to laugh at as I usually do. |
