I know exactly what you mean Gusto. I think what Peter needs is some depth adding to his character, rather than just the now superficial repeats of alcoholism or his latest relationship disaster.
What's life like for him? How does Peter see himself? What's his view on his own identity?
He has a string of failed relationships, how has that impacted on his life?
Similarly, he's been incapable of holding down a job for the last few years. How does this influence the life of someone in their 50s?
Would love to see Corrie addressing some of these points but I doubt that they will.
Personally, and I've mentioned this before, I'd like to see Peter have a storyline that deals with the implications of long-term unemployment.
