What was so revolutionary about them?
THEY WERE JUST BLOODY HEADPHONES!

I was hoping that it would get mentioned when they met the inventor, or during the pitch, or... just at some time.

I thought they conducted sound through the skull rather than through your ears. That way you could still hear traffic

I was doing that with the sat-nav on my motorbike years ago with the earpiece fitted into the lining of the helmet were it pressed lightly on my skull just above and behind my ear.

Your comment shows how bad the team were at explaining the product. Unlike normal headphones, they didn't go in your ear, but sat in front of your ear, so you could still hear your surroundings. Something they never mentioned at any point (or was edited out).

But those headphones already exist. Why were these different?

I thought the same about the Gilet. A guy on Dragons Den about 2 seasons ago, ex Royal Marine had the same idea for runners etc, lights sewn into the seams.
